Hye,

One of my friends say a slection renaming tool exists in maya. He work on maya 4.5 and me on maya4.0. I've havn't found the this tool on my version. Does it is specific from the 4.5 version?

My problem is that I've already code a little script which makes possible to rename a selection of object in maya. So I want to know if it's useful for the version 4.0!:scream:

Can somebody try my package : bug reporting, notes, and english mistakes.

sure it does exists. in your status bar - on the right side. you can switch from select to rename.

but it cannot do all. renaming hirarchies is a problem. but it`s already solved by many mel scripts out there.

Yeah I tried it. It takes a selection and renames it with an incremental number. You can do the same with the status line "rename" box. Just select a bunch of objects and give them a new name. It adds an incremental number at the end if you have multiple objects selected.
