View Full Version : OpenEXR for C4D?
fxgogo 01-24-2003, 02:44 PM I think we should try and get the new HDRI image format that ILm released to the open source community working in C4D. I am a not a power programmer, but I know some of you are, and this would be a huge boon to the C4D community. Who is prepared to help this happen?
Currently the format is only compiled for unix/linux, but it won't be long before someone has complied it for windows.

I think there might be some forums at the OXR site which might help. I think a couple of weeks will help get things more developed.

yeah i think so too. i'll just ask the guys at that forum. for me it looks a bit complicated at the moment. i am sure someone could make a package installer out of this. well, at least that would be the easiest solution. :)

You need to install the developer tools to get the make command - it is part of the GNU tools.
Also, you need to make sure you read readme.osx it has a small code change to stop openEXR crashing on the mac

hey cool, thx anadin! now i know why the make command did not work at all. and i've already read the readmeosx file. gotta install the devtools and try it out later when i am back at home.
have you already installed openexr? if so, is it worth installing it?

It's all a bit silly really, I have the code, the devtools and have read about the bug but have not built it yet - yoy may well get there before me!

well, i managed to install it and i also changed the script that causes the bug. but i just don't know how to start the programs. i can't find any executable files.
anadin: have you installed it now, too?

I see that the Digital Fusion people have compiled a windows verison to intergrate into their package. I could not find it though, and I was a bit puzzled, since is this not susposed to be open source?

it's open source, if you're using a mac there's now a exr viewer, just do a search on versiontracker. there's no reason why anyone couldn't use opesource within their own application and keep the applicaiton closed source, provided they distribute the openversion of exr with the app.
