Hey GCTalkers!

Here's a peice I'm working on, and I was hoping I could get some feedback on it.
They're guests at a sort of 1960's glamorous hollywood pool party (at least that's the atmosphere I had envisioned, I'm not sure how well I captured it).

I'm planning on adding some out-of-focus background elements, and some japanese lantern-style lights strung across the top, and of course I need to finish her hands and champagne glass. I'm not sure how much detail I should add to the guy's face, though...
...It's in Painter, using the Acrylics and oily blenders.

Any ideas you have, especially in regard to composition or lighting, would be most welcome. Thanks!

I can't see them either. Maybe blogger isn't a good spot for hosting images for other places.

the pictures work.
Nice style.

The subject matter reminds me of that nicole richie photo... but with more meat on her legs.

I would like to see the whole character, head to toe.

Is this picture symbolic of modern society... eg you're interpreting the trends in a different light?

OK, I put the images on Photobucket, hopefully that should work!

Frostblade, thanks for your comments! Actually, I had been thinking about putting her full figure in there...that's one of the things I need to correct about my workflow, I tend to not plan out compositions very well! As for the symbolism, well, that hadn't occurred to me either, but it is an interesting take on it...maybe I'll work that angle up as I finish it.

Thanks for your help with the images everyone!

Mmm... in my opinion this pic does not breath.
I think you should decide what you want to show.
If you want to describe only the girl with a blured background then I suggest you to cut the pic where man's collarbones start, while, if you need to have a more complex view, well, first you should scale the man in the background and mix it more with the background to add depth and then place other objects (like balloons and drinks...) between them.

Looking forward,
Serena.

Thanks Jan-Mark and Serena!

Serena, that's a good observation, the man does look like he's too close to be that indistinct...They're all on seperate layers of course, so it will be easy to play around with his scale and putting objects between the two figures.

Updates to follow soon...

The pics work now

I like the style and its a great start, but as previously said, you'll need more background elements to define the setting. But look forward to see the progress!

Ok, I've been super busy this week, but I did manage to get a little work done on my nicole ritchie lookalike. I've taken out the hunky guy...I just don't think he was working. Added a balustraude (spelling?) and some grass...

The image seemed too bottom-heavy, so I gave her a head-scarf to balance it out, I'll have to get some photo refs for fancy hair-dos. She's looking very "Ab-Fab". And that can only be a good thing.

her pose is kind of tricky...she's leaning on the rail, but kind of twisting around to look at the viewer. (I hope that's how it comes across.) I would like to add more to the bottom, and paint the detail in the floor tiles, but do you think the comp is getting too stretched out? Maybe I should add a statur or something to her left. Like I mentioned before, composition is my weakest point.

as always, I love Crits! Thanks for looking everyone.
more updates later this week...

Oh, yes, now it works man!
Only one thing: I think you should "reason" on the banisters you added in last step. If I see the woman from her breast to the top, she seems to lean her elbows on banisters while her legs say that it is not possible. Maybe this effect is caused by the left legs so 'rolled up' on right one. I think yoiu should place the left leg on a more natural pose and, yes, please do not cut her head with the top border :)))))

Hope to see more news as soon as possible,
Serena.

Here we go...I know, I know, I'm a slow worker. But I should be able to get it finished this weekend. Any close-to-final crits?
*serena, your crit about the left leg was right on the nose, thanks!

just need to do her hair, polish off her hands & legs, maybe add some detail to the railing & floor, and I'll be done! :bounce:

I prefer the second palette, the one that uses pinks but...of course...is a matter of taste :)

I've 1 request...http://forum.html.it/forum/images/smilies/stordita.gif

hem... can you add 'cellulitis' to her legs? http://forum.html.it/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Agreed. It would be realistic.

It's in the Showcase! :bounce: hooray!

I honestly did mess around with adding cellulite to her legs, but sadly I think that kind of detailed testuring is beyond my ability at this point...:)

Thanks everyone!
