Hello all, figured this would be the best place to make my first post.

My name is Paul Jaquess and I'm 23. The main focus I'm on right now is tightening up my anatomy, and focusing a lot more on dynamic figures. A lot of my art practice strayed into rendering, without something to render *laugh*. So now I'm spending more time to correct that.

My studying is pretty much focused on Hogarth, Brom, and Amano. The pics I'll have will probably be a bit everything, from quick paints/sketches to rendered out ones. I usually do a whole page of random poses and parts. Occasionally I will do a full paint as practice for combining rendering and the figure/anatomy study.

Goal-
To fully understand Hogarth's pelvis/torso method and be able to apply it to not only realism, but as well as excessively stylized art such as Amano's style.

Critiques, suggestions, and comments welcome.

Welcome to the forum, Paul. I'll go straight to the point. An artist who you would like to see is Glenn Vilppu. You can find him HERE (http://www.vilppustudio.com/). From your torso sketches that I see, you will for sure like Vilppu's stuff. Good luck with the future studies.

PJ,

Welcome to CGTalk and to the Anatomy Forum! :) I will back razz up here and agree that Vilppu is an excellent resource as well.

If you could tell us a bit about your art training and background, that would be terrific. :)

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Cheers, :)

Thanks for the greetings guys/gals =).

Razz- You're are definitely right. His stuff is amazing, and I will definitely be looking into getting a book/cd of his.

Rebecca - My art training is pretty much limited to a single life-figure class, and a lot of self education. I study from Hogarth's figure book, and just recently started studying from Jack Hamm's Animal book. Other than that I learn everything else usually from fantasy art/comic illustrators such as Brom, R.K. Post, ect..
