Does anyboy know how to get 3d max matte shadow to work within vray?

I have apllied a matte shadow material but cannot see any shadows or do not have a transparent object..

Also i need the same effect but this time receiving bounced light rather than shadows.

Does anyone know how to acheive this without displaying the object light source and the receiving object?
Thanks

Vray has its own matte controls for doing this which allow you to set matte passes without needing to lose material assignments which is nice - as for the bounce light you'd need to use its render passes for that or do something clever with the way you light a scene.

you can go to system on the render menu

System

object settings

And then you can select the objects and make the matte
