View Full Version : FastFur 2.1 - New Dynamics
RenatoT 08-15-2006, 02:25 PM Hi All,
I've worked to a new way to make better simulation to the fur.
here the example:
www.jun.it/NewDynamic2.mov
www.parmi.tv/NewDynamic2.mov
www.tarabella.it/C4D/FastFur2.0/NewDynamic2.mov
The interesting thing is that all optimization are enabled so a lots of fur are switching on and off.
Rendertime for this animation is 25 mins, 150 frames.
Thanks for your time
Renato T.

wow, that looks absolutely like real fur to me!
awesome work Renato!
Also 10 secs per frame is very acceptible rendertime i'd say :)
Again, great work!

best realistic look I've ever seen for an Hair, fantastic shader :buttrock:

thanks to the C4d Raytracer :)

Hair make real dynamics for particle that define each fur segment :)
The only way to simulate hair.
FastFur need only to manage short fur and this "fake" dynamics can be good for this scope.
Today the FF dynamics is 50% physics and 50% fake :)

Hey Renato, that looks very nice indeed... Some more of this cool stuff and I might possibly no longer be able to restrain myself and buy a licence (though I still would love to see FF work with generators... ;-) ). Great work.

That's looking very promising Renato! Great to see that you constantly try to make your plugin even better! Love the animation :)

Renato, how doe your Plugin work with Final Render?
Do I have to convert to geomertry before using it with FR, or can the dynamics interaction be used with it?
Also, and very important, does the Fur shader work with Final Render?
thanks-

the hair in Fast and fur is geometry (which is how it differs fromthe hair module in terms of speed etc) As for the shader he'd have to port it to their renderer :(

thanks for the info,
-So it should be possible to use FR or another render engine with a Fast&Fur animation ( Dynamics interaction etc..) without having to 'bake' or make the hair editable, right?
- Too bad about the hair shader, though that would make sense.

Hi All,
all it's possible, but i don't own FinalRender.
Does Final Render have a Hair Shader? Is the SDK free to develop the shader?
In fact it you export to Rib the FastFur object and use any renderman Hair shader it must work.
Cheers

Hi renato, FR has an anisotropic shader, though not a specific 'hair' shader.
I could ask whether the SDK is available to develop a shader

In fact, to write an hair shader like the one that i use in cinema it's easy.. :)

There is a little delay for the last FastFur 2.1 release.
My friend and betatester, frank, have found 2 problems in the last FF release :)
i'm changing the FF core to resolve it.
I'm sorry about that

Renato,
No need to apologize, no product is perfect all the time! And your track record shows that you are a dedicated and thorough developer.
BTW, i have a question about the wind effect. How or what is the wave generator?
Thank you!

HI Richard,
like i wrote in email, the wind generator is the object (null) that tell to FF where from the wave will be generated.
If you leave that field empty the circular waves will generated from 0,0,0.

Hi All,
this is a new animation made with Fast&Fur 2.1.
Added:
Use of Particle Wind Generator
Style like root (Clump Root) applied to all styling effects.
some others fix.
