There is a Free HDRI sample Download in HighRes 8000x4000 Pix of the Panobase Vol.1 here :

http://www.sachform.de/products/PANObase_Vol01/klein/hdri_21_color.jpg

http://www.sachform.de/download_EN.html

We like to see, what you render with this HDRI (or with another from our products). Show us your renderings here in this thread!

If we choose your work for our Gallery, we award it with a single download HDRI of the HDRIbase Vol.1-3 !

Hi folks !

Yes these images in the download area are watermarked as told on the download page. But nevermind, if you post cool render stuff here, you can choose one HDRI for free from the HDRIbase Vol.1-3 products (without watermark of course) !

It is an incentive to test and use HDRI and you will get an award for that of course !

I´m really looking forward to see your entries !

Not related to what's been given away here (a very nice offer)- someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it proven that small HDRI images worked as well as massive ones?

Hi R10K,

That is totally true for lighting purposes in the main area. If you light your Scene with HDRI, it does not make sence to use e.g. a 8000 x 4000 pixels resolution HDRI.
The Size will kill your render speed and you may get artefacts. That´s why we provide our products with an additional HDRI in small resolution and blurred image of the same set like the HighRes for every single HDRI. <-- Take a look at the PDF on our download pages

The HighRes is the right tool for the reflections and as background.
A few months ago, i was in Monument Valley for a job for Malboro project, where we made HDRI Panoramas, which they used for lighting, reflection and background in a cinema commercial.

So you can see, it depends on the type of job and the type of use, if you need a HighRes or a lower Resolution.

Here's a render I cooked with Brazil with that free HDR image. I would like to say that I'm surprised with the quality, and that I'm sorry that my model isn't complete yet. I don't have that much free time nowadays, but I should really add some of the finishing touches.
Anyways, here is the render:

Great work for starting the challenge ;)

I think this could become an interesting thread !

Don´t hesitate to post your WIP´s and Finals ! If you have questions, ask me and i try to answer you the best i can !

Keep on posting render scenes and maybe you like to explain how you use the hdri in the scene.

E.G. screenshots would be great !

Kinda surprising to see I'm still the only one on this busy forum.. it's an easy way of getting a nice free hdr... (and another free but watermarked hdr ;) )

Not much of a material test, but still pretty I think. It's Jotero's Ajax model, I see it popping up on more and more 3d sites. Anyways, the material used here is an anisotropic metal material. Looks a bit like metallic paint that has been sanded down actually.
Rendered in Maxwell 1.1

Thank you Renzsu.

This is a very good idea to post some material tests. It is interesting what kind of interaction the material does with the light.
