For a while im working somewhere i dont have access to 3dsmax. To model im using Wings3D, which i must say i really like.

However i dont like the UV unwrap tools, and i was wondering if there is a Free standalone UV unwrapping programme, that functions in a way similar to 3Dsmax, or Free modelling app that shares some of max's unwrapping functionality.

What i mean is sleect some faces and planar map them. See them in a UV viewport and be able to manipulate and scale them

When i say similar i mean similar, not that the programme is simply able to unwrap.

Try out blender (http://www.blender3d.org) is a free modelling suite that got a lot of texturing modes (best of them being LSCM unwrap where you define seams on your mesh and it's automatically nwrapped for you)

Yeah Thanks im looking at blender now. Although it does seem to have an interesting approach, its nothing like the one in Max. Any other suggestions?
