Title: A small house
Name: Paulo Almeida
Country: Portugal
Software: 3ds max, AutoCAD, mental ray, Photoshop

Hi,
This is a small house i modeled in 3D Studio Max 7 and had some retouches in Photoshop.
I need some coments and critics in order for me to improve my skills over the architectural visualizations, so feel free to do some.
Thanks

Ok, good that you're looking for feedback, but you've really posted in the wrong section for that! The WIP (work in progress) area is the best place for feedback and to help you improve.

The textures you’re using are just flat and dull. The house doesn’t appear to be textured at all, just flat colors. Build yourself a library of good high resolution wood, stone and wall textures and use them to build a satisfactory set of building textures. The grass texture on the floor is far too low resolution, and light, it looks flat and dull.

For the modeling remember that nothing in real life is infinitely sharp. Everything has a bevel to it. Right now your model looks fake because of ultra sharp corners everywhere, a bevel will help to make it look more realistic.

The lighting here is very dull and grey too. Daylight isn’t always easy to do, but you can improve it with a few things. Firstly try increasing the brightness of your “sun”. Secondly make sure you have a good skylight to cast an overall blue ambience against the suns yellow color (the two combined should result in a nice clean whitish color if you pick correctly for the sunlight). Third this will kill your render time, but if you can do it start to use a very small angled area light for your sun to get area shadows, most of the realism is in the details, the texture the subtle effects.

Keep working at it, and next time rather than post in the finished art area post in the WIP area as you will get much better feedback and help there!

'nice work'?

The image is not that great. I'm getting tired of reading one-line comments like 'nice work' and 'thumbs up' and 'what that other guy said'. How about about some useful crits like the first poster?

My crit - reduce the size of your trees.. they look gigantic when you have no bushes or other plantlife directly around your building. Soften your shadows some too. The porch on the second floor looks a little 'stuck on', and could probably be removed.

Well you got the bassics. Now it is time for the fundamentals...

There is not much more to say I agree on the above comments. Just keep working and eventualy you will get there!
