although being a generalist is fine... im assuming you want to be an animator? so you need to focus on just animating... and a demoreel should run at a max of, is it 2 mins(?) of your best work only... sometimes even shorter... if it's animation, do a ball bounce, heavy box lift, heavy box push, and full body animation... and only pick the best 2 or 3 at max... which means you need to spend a lot of time in one area only... the more you work on it, the better you get... rather than jumping from one place to another... but learning how everything works isn't a bad thing either... good luck!

hey, though your animation/rigging skills seem obviously quite well you definetly need to rework the whole concept of presenting them. i hardly wasn't able to see what´s happening 'cos of any annoying background-effects. you better clearly point out what you wanna show and present it in a way everyone's eye is caught by it.
besides your rigging and modelling skills are really fine!

The background effects are too visually noisy, It makes it a chore to watch the clips.

Nice work though, I like the 2d shape shifting animation.

understand that my comment was not meant to discourage you in any way... but do understand that companies in this industry don't look for a piece of paper that a school would give you, but rather what you can do for the good of the company, meaning your work... best of luck!

ok wow... lemme start off by saying, you definitely have an interesting style! i liked your lighting, modeling, and texturing, but all of your animation needs a lot of work.

i couldn't tell if the jerkiness in the motion was your video editing style or the animation itself, which is a big problem. if you're going for an animation job, you'll need at least 1 smooth shot that lasts longer than 5 sec before cutting to another. right now it actually looks like you're more into motion graphic design. as said above, being a generalist is ok, but you need more definition of what exactly you can and want to do. a reel is usually 100% built for getting a job in the industry, and employers want to know what specific job to hire you for. no offense, but if you want to be an animator, your reel needs a lot of work. if not, try and clean it up to really show your skills off, as opposed to a flashy piece of artwork.

cheers :D

hey, thanx for all the comments, it seems that i got myself an animator position
in an advertisment production company with this reel, starting september 1st-
consider the thread closed, i am off to the islands to get a suntan till the end
of the month-

please take a moment to think the following though: perhaps the industry needs
and working conditions are not universally the same, meaning what applies in the States does not necessarily apply in non-UK Europe-
and, just for the history, what you call "being a generalist" was appreciated as proof of "an overall perception of animation processes"

please no ironic "congrats", i wont be online to read it anyway :^)

heh, not to be rude, but why even post a reel if you're not going to take the criticism? your animation needs work. standards for quality all across the world have the same basic principles, so i hope you keep on practicing and improving your work to meet them. don't take our comments as insults.. we wouldn't try and help if we didnt care! :D
