Hi everybody,

I'm following the book "Maya 4 Fundamentals" and I'm doing every steps to create the creature, but in a certain step I can't close the polygon shape.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

PS: This is my first post on cgtalk :)http://bigftp.planetaclix.pt/creature.JPG

If you mean closing a polygonal hole? Then there's this wonderful "fill hole" tool in the Edit Polygons tool. Form here, you just need to slice the polygon created to make the surrounding polygons. BTW, which tutorial are you doing?

It's the creature tutorial, this polygon will be (I hope) the head :)

I'm following the book and the video tutorial, but in the video doesn't appear this hole in the polygon, everything works perfect, but with me appears this hole. :annoyed:
I'm doing every step correctly! :hmm:

if backface culling is on, then you need to flip the normal of the ply. If that's not the case, I have no idea what's going on!

don't let yourself be fooled by the videos! :shame:

i did this tutorial once and there are some discrepancies between the textual descriptions and what's to be seen there.

sometimes it's even recommendable to leave the narrow tracks of guidance and explore different solutions on one's own. that's where fun comes in! ;)

i think you have not merge your vertices here, check how many vertices are in this corner, if there is more than 2 , use the merge vertices tool

Eureka!:applause:

Somebody told me that a problem with a dificult resolution, solves better at the morning! :)

I founded the dir "incremental save" and I realize what appened, I just select 2 faces instead of 3 (a third small face was "hidded").

Problem solved. I had also to check "Keep Faces Together".

lowkey: I agree with you, follow the video but if something wrong appens the better solutionit's resolve by our own way.

Thanks everybody (i like this first experience has cgtalk "post...er":))

PS: Sorry about my bad english
:annoyed:
