Here is my first animation ever. I have no formal training whatsoever. In fact I'm still in high school but have been blessed to have gotten maya through my friend's dad's work. I don't know any technique in animating--I just gave it a shot. I'd appreciate any animating theory. The creature is the control rig from the "Hyper Real Body Setup" DVD. By the way, if you recommend any good learn-to-animate books, let me know...been browsing on Amazon.

I was just messing around and don't plan to go much further with the animation (in fact I just tried to open it and it has been somehow corrupted). But I'm interested in what is lacking in it. It seems a little unnatural sometimes.

The feet bounce a little bit. The rig had no controls for the feet, and the bone structure was too hard for me to add an IK handle.

Thanks for the crits!

Hope the link works. I googled for free hosting.

I like it. :)

In regard to books...

Must-have: The Animator's Survival Kit, Illusion of Life

I don't have the Illusion of Life yet but the first one is great. The second one is recommended by everyone and is on the requirements list at Animationmentor so I guess it's helpful.

hi!

Very good starting!

Maybe u can begin to change the rotation of ur body: the bust must rotate before hip to take one's run-up. I hope to be clear.

I'm starting in 3D animation too :p

You know I did kinda overlook the hips. Thanks for the help!
