View Full Version : WIPcharacter/ Fan Art / The darkness
rattlesnake 08-12-2006, 09:50 PM Hello, well i always enjoyed comics, and the one i liked the most was one called Darkness From Topcow (comics artist:Silvestri), i decided to create a 3d version of the main character...so heres the begining, first i lll create a generic character mesh , im planning to use it for future characters as well...and after finishing that ill make z brush sketching of the details for modeling all into the character;) , the plan is to keep all clean so it can be easily textured and rigged...here is my first step...

he looks good for me lol u know I`am not good at anatomy things but I feel that his ears are too small :wise:

Good start the proportions are pretty much spot on my only crit at this stage is that his obliques need some attention or love handle region, hes a little undefined round the hip area. I myself always have a problem here to suppose its cos your not seeing that part of the body on people normally unless you attend life drawing classed on a regular basis..good start though your model has good potential..

other little update on the face...next ill add the mask and add much more expression, my version of this character wont look like comic drawing...im going to pretend that im creating a real person (actor) wearing "the darkness" suit...

Great man well done... Not sure if you know but there is a game being Produced call the Darkness based on the character your designing and concept for the XB360.

man this looks awesome, love the mask so far! the onl thing bugging me is how toned this guy is. unless you work out 24/7 i dont think many people would be this defined, there is little body fat on him. to me when the muscles are so tight like that the skin looks a bit thin, but its only minor, the anatomy seems to be great. keep it up!

The hands look decent considering you didn't know how to make them. I'd suggest scaling them up only at the joints, though, beacuse yours are looking too uniform to be real fingers.
By the way, can we see a reference pic of the character you're doing? I really love the holes that you put in the mesh and I wann see what's gonna go in there :thumbsup: .

Esto se va viendo cada vez mejor bro', me imagino que el cabello va a ser un gran reto ya que este personaje es de melena larga, ...no conozco el sistema de cabello de 3d max, pero los sistemas de melena de maya han mejorado mucho desde la version 7, ya no he sufrido tanto en esos menesteres.
En cuanto a la proporcion, yo en lo personal alargaria un poco el cuello porque a lo mejor se ve muy corto cuando le pongas la melena, pero no se tu..."
Ojala cuando lo termines lo llegue a ver Silvestri, mandaselo por correo, quien quita lo ve y le late...." :wip:

Looking sweet sofar, I love the comic and was actually going to make the darkness myself. I ended up changing the model into a rogue for the blizzard comp, so will be very interested in where you take this. No crits at the moment, the proportions kinda need to be like that for this character.
Im gonna be making the witchblade girl at some point, could do a joint scene oneday if she turns out. :thumbsup:

Great job again, the rigging looks very good, the modeling is very clean and detailed, the hair however is still a little weird, great progress mate, keep rockinnnnnnnnnnnn!

Wow Jorge it's great to see new work from you mate! Texturing is looking really good so far. Just a thought, is the neck covered by the armour? Cos I don't think the front neck area on its own will look like that... but other than that it looks awesome, can't wait to see another rattlesnake masterpiece!

ok some more advance on texturing, also trying a new way of hair creation, i think this is much better since render 50 times faster and looks better..

Looking good. Soething seems odd to me in the pose, I think it may be the deformations around the joints perhaps. His thighs and shins seen long in that shot.
Did u model the new hair?

well after two very busy weeks im back to post some update, here is the second creature modeling...started from an special base mesh supposed to handle about 8 different face and body adjustments, that way i will create the reamining creatures much faster...hope it work :P
