Well, I was in Atlanta four months ago ... but, now I'm in Savannah. It's about a 4.5 - 5hr drive without counting that damn Atlanta traffic. I don't miss it. But, I do miss hangin out with you Julian. :)

Hey we finished another guest room in the house. Matter of face we only have one room to go.
Anytime you want to stay .. let me know.
Caveat: after 8 weeks, the lil one will be here and she may not let anyone sleep.:scream:
How's the Savannah (LW) scene I mean you the SCAD folks down there to keep inspired.

I'm in too. I'm up in the Alpharetta area. I hear you with respects to the traffic - 400 to 85/75 is a freakshow. If you're heading north into downtown / midtown in the mornings on 85, forget about it. It needs a serious dose of fiber!:D
I look forward to meeting all the LW folks in "the ATL". It seems as though we are a rare breed in ATL. It's mostly dominated by 3DS Max artists. Although I have worked with 3DS a little, that interface gives me the hives.:scream:

Good to see some folks show up. I wish I could help out more but I'm so busy now... Just tell me when and I'll be there, just can't contribute right now.

Hello Everyone,
The good news is, I currently have (7) email address, including my own, of LW Individuals in Georgia.
Most contactee's are in or near Atlanta, who want to attend the LWUG meeting. None, that I know of, have actually been abducted. However, I am sure you know how sneaky, they are. Those Aliens are "out there". You just never know for sure. {&^)

Hello,
9_8_2006
Our next LWUG meeting, will be in late September 2006. It will be an informal gathering, with the goal of LW planning and steering, for future meetings and activities.
Bring your business cards, there will be a drawing.
Bring a DVD or VHS sample of your CG animations.
We have a video projector to show your work, and will have DVD, VHS playback decks.
There will be 2 computers loaded with Lightwave for you to play with.
LWUG members will get discounts.
I need to know
1) do you have LW (yes) or (no)
2) if yes, do you own Pre-7, 7, 8, or 9
3) if yes, (7 or 8 or 9) are you a beginner, intermediate or advanced.
4) If yes, how do you want to spend your time at the meeting?
A couple of the members of the previous LW meeting group have told me they would send me the names and email address of past members. I am still waiting for those names and addresses.
Several other people have told me they have an email list, and that when they find it, they will forward the list to Lightwave_users@machinepress.com
No one, so far has done this, so I am left to my own search and contact activity, to find LW users.
If you want to attend, please send me your 5) first and last name, 6) phone number, and
7) email address to Lightwave_users@machinepress.com

Hello,
This is the final notice before the Sept 2006 LWUG Meeting.
For meeting details, such as Date, Time, Location, and Directions, send email to
Lightwave_Users@MachinePress.com
I have posted meeting notices at 20 different Web sites, and it takes alot of my time,
logging in checking for private messages, and reading Lightwave posts that interest me.
So this will be the last web post until after the meeting.
I will post a meeting summary report in about a week after the LWUG meeting.
So I will see you back here in about 3 weeks.

Atlanta LWUG
LightWave User Group
Meeting Report
Hello, this is John W. Gutmann reporting again.
I thought you might like to hear about what happened at the LWUG - Lightwave User Group Meeting.
Our first meeting in 2006 was held on September 30.
The meeting was held at the Amitrace retail store on Jimmy Carter.
Over the 4-hour period, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 6 people showed up for the event.
OK not a big number but it’s a start.
Meet and Greet period.
Everyone who attended was given a file folder with the following printed materials.
Meeting Agenda,
Dear Sweet Emma - Handout
Handout for - Machine Press Video Productions

Why am I here
What I hope to learn
And a copy of the HDRI 3D Magazine. A $12.00 value
From 11:00 AM till 12:30 we just mingled, talked and watched the DVD "Add me to your team" video.
Around 12:30 PM John W. Gutmann opened the meeting and showed 30 seconds up to 3 min of the following video’s:
"Hire me - camera operator"
"30sec TV commercial for HL Computer"
"Technical Director"
"Master Control"

CIC "Caught In Clapper"
Next we showed 5 minutes of a Lightwave Animated Film, "Dear Sweet Emma" an Animation
that used Lightwave software.
Next we showed an 11 minute Video taped interview with Rebecca Cernak one of the modelers for "Dear Sweet Emma"
Next we watched the Newtek Lightwave 3D demo DVD

Next we watched some of the "Animusic 2" DVD
Starship Grove, Pogo Sticks, Resonant Chamber, Cathedral Pictures, Pipe Dream 2, Fiber , Bundles, Gyro Drums, Heavy Light
I am not sure, but some attendees believed that "Animusic 2" was not done with Lightwave, but it is none the less a great animation to watch.
Next we talked about Group Business. Largely it was an Open Q&A session.
We talked about a premise of meeting every other Month, rather then each month.
The next meeting maybe would be first Saturday in November
No late November meeting because of Thanksgiving Holidays
None in December - Christmas Holidays too busy
We discussed First Saturday in January
So when do we meet next?
Looks like November 4th 2006 I am currently waiting confirmation from Amitrace.
ScreamerNet - render farm, who is using it. One attendee, said he had set it up and got it working
We mentioned meeting at Dunkun Donuts - across street after the meeting close
A Request for Speakers Presenters was announced. Chris Baldwin volunteered for the next meeting.
Next we showed short Demo videos brought by Chris Baldwin and Curtis Henson.
Next we held a drawing for a "Animusic 2" DVD, Chris Baldwin won the DVD.
Finally John W Gutmann showed how to take xyz point data in Excel or Text files and how to use Lscript to get these points in Modeler.
First John reviewed the following 8x11 Print handouts
script with col.xls, xyz_file_formats.xls, and Modeler_Steps.xls
Then John did a "Hands on demo of how to do it", on a computer with Lightwave installed.
The meeting closed around 2:30 PM.
Amitrace is normally closed on Saturdays, however Ray has
volunteered to come in and open up the store for the Lightwave User Group meeting.
Be sure to thank Ray for his support.
