yeah, it looks pretty good...do you plan on making a character to go with the ax?....and are you going to use the smoothing on it or staying with the angular look?....is this for the video gaming class with Brian?

yeah, this is for briend low poly class, so... no smoothing for me. the polycount is about 550.
And yea, eventually there'll be a character to go alongside it. We're only in the first few weeks though!
I think he showed us your weapon as an example, heather. He also showed us steve and doug's head.

ok guys, im about done with the axe, it needs some more tweaking, but most of the textures are in place and are good to go i think.
All in all, i think this turned out ok, i'll still have to run it by the teacher to see what to tweak, but what do you guys all think?

i love what you done there, it looks like a very very old axe, probally left unnderwater, or outside for a long long time!

looks really nice joe...only one real nit pick...the handle texture looks like its stretched around at a weird angle...or is it just me?...but like i said, its just a nit pick :)

554 is high for a weapon if you plan on using it in a game.. i like it however i feel the polys on the handle are unjustified for the texture you put on it...
my 2 cents,
It looks nice though!

I dig the look, but yeah, 550 is a bit steep for a game weapon, unless the weapon is super-important (think Soul Calibur). Maybe you could join out some of the polys where the axe head is tied on and at the handle. I mean, if the axe is meant to be carried, we're not gonna see much of the handle anyway, right?

Yeah great work Joe. But I kind of agree with Mangled Poly on the unjustified polys. I think you need to tweak the texture on the handle so that the texture goes with the form a little better. It still looks great though!!
I give it
