View Full Version : Layers
Garnet 01-23-2003, 07:45 PM How do you create different layers? Do you have to push a button for a new one, or does it automatically create a new layer when you put in a new object?
HOpefully i'm not tooooo much of a newbie for you guys...lol. THanx for any help!

before you push the power button of your pc start reading the manual and everything will become blindingly clear ;)
no offence
to answer your question:
a layer has to contain some sort of data to show up in layout (points, polygons)
no, you don't have to push any buttons
have fun

1) put some ice on your poor nutz.
2) make sure there is something in the layer.

K in the tutorial I'm following it says something like "create this in LAYER 2". So to create layer two do i just draw the next figure or something, and the new layer is created?

Actually, this is a really nice forum, one of the best LW ones in any case.
It's just that we don't take all that kindly to warez.
Come on, if you had borrowed a program you had never used from a friend, you would have borrowed the manual too.
That was a lousy cover story :shame:

Do they not teach reading comprehension in school anymore?

Ya, actually most peopel on these forums are really nice and have been helping me out a lot so far.
It's just that we don't take all that kindly to warez.
Whats that?

First of all i'm only 14, and i don't really care for manuals....i just rip open the c-d case and start cracking (unfortunately i have not been able to ccatch on so easily to this program). My friend is pretty good at some of this stuff, and when i saw some of the things you could do, i asked if i could borrow it to mess around with it, but i figured out that it's a lot more complicated than i thought.
O well.

When you haven't used a program ever in your life, sometimes things aren't so simple. Just because you have mastered it, doesn't mean you have to go bashing people who are new to the program. Why not try helping people? Or if you don't know what to do, then don't post. I know you will probably fire another insult at me or something now that i've said that, but i'm hoping we can be mature enough to stop while we're ahead. :applause: .

Okay Garnet, if you are sincere, then fine.
However, you can't blame people for thinking you are using pirated software when you ask questions that are covered in the manual. Especially since the manual is included on the LW disc. Why didn't you consult it first? It takes a lot quicker than waiting for responses on a forum :)
And as for not caring much for manuals, well that's a bit silly, since they are the best way to learn a new program - how else are you going to know what all the tools do? Tutorials usually don't explain all the tools in great detail.
And come on, you're 14 - you MUST know what warez are ;)
Anyway, best of luck to you for learning Lightwave - it's a great program! :D

THanx Leigh for replying nicely! lol
I know it's silly that i don't like manuals and stuff. I think it's just because i'm usually impatient. I don't really like to sit at the computer for a really long time working on something that can take a really long time to do. I like programs where everything is simple, but thats just me. I think i'm gonna take the time to actually learn this tho :applause: as long as you guys are here to help:thumbsup: !
I seriously don't know wut "warez" are, and i'm totally into computer lingo, lol. My first guess was like burned, copied, stolen etc. AM i right?

Sorry I was a bit abrasive in my first reply :)
Oh and warez are pirated apps yeah. Warez users are NOT welcome on this forum :thumbsdow

Funny, I've always been the total opposite - I've always been a manual junkie :D
sounds to me like your "copy" is pirated...if that's true...you should know that by admitting this you've put yourself in a place you don't want to be...unless of course you've got 10 years to spare and about 150,000 dollars...buy the program bud or get the Lightwave Discovery Edition:thumbsup:
