Hi everyone,

I thought about making a thread where anyone could put a link to some interesting tutorials for these months challenges so it could help newbies and also improve the talents of more experienced artist.

I don't know any compositing tutorials, but I know this book by Ron Brinkmann: "The Art and Science Of Digital Compositing".

Well, there is this guy, who has made a large DB with free tutorials on the net, and there are some compositing tutorials in it too.:

And then there is always www.highend3D.com and www.highend2D.com

That's the best CG recources I know, on the internet. (besides www.cgtalk.com ;) and www.awug.dk, but the last one is in danish)

Here's a short one about using camera projections in Maya for doing virtual characters, seems appropriate for this challenge.

Not really a tutorial, but if you want some help matchmoving then ICARUS http://aig.cs.man.ac.uk/icarus/ is really good (new version out tomorrow). oR if you want to get slick and move the camera :o)

I know this isn't a web tutorial, but about two weeks ago, I recived my dvnamics DVD bundle, and I have now had the time to watch the first DVD. I thought that "create emitter" and the "particle tool" were somthing that could be talked about in 30 minutes, but mr. Alvarez did it for 2 hours. :thumbsup:
After having seen only the first DVD (1 of 11), I can heavily recommend it to anyone who whishes to know what can be done with dynamics (in Maya).

those DVD's are the main prize for the competition aren't they? :)

hrmm, i see all these vfx challenges but i don't see where the challenges are at or what they are or basically wth is going on!? anyone? :shrug:

The CG Challenge site is where entries are submitted and where the top level description is for what is required.

The idea is that everyone entering then starts a thread here, and provides progress updates - part of the idea being to share information with other people about how you are doing your work.

If you're asking why there's so little activity around here, I think there's two reasons.
1. This challenge is a tricky one, and people are struggling to make progress.
2. Lack of time (this certainly affects me).

There was a lot more activity on the previous challenge...

Anyone here has Interesting litterature to read about?
I know johs told us about one which is:

I almost finished reading the latest Cinefex (the one with Gollum on the cover), and that is a werry good magazine, with long in depth articles. Sometimes they can seem a little too long, but normaly it is interesting, and there is always a tip or two, that makes all it worth reading.
So Cinefex is highly recomendabel.

Btw. I talked about a skeleton setup by Chris Landreth, in an other tread, and I have been told that it is in the "Mastering the Human Character" video tutorial. That should be helpfull with the dificult bodyparts.
