Greetings, just cheking to see if anyone is having trouble moving in two axis?
This is from the Doc

"Animate Tab
Set your view to L (if it's not already). The view selector is on the top left of the World View. Now middle-click on the base of the foot, like in the image above"

I have restarted messiah, but i cannot get this simple action to work.

Hi sadicus, as far as moving on two axis goes, you should be able to select your object, and click & drag the 'M' in the edit sphere.

From a new scene, I just noticed if you're in the Left view using local coordinates, moving on two axis doesn't work. Can someone else please confirm this?

When you're doing the tutorials in the docs, you may want to click the Coord Sys button at the bottom right corner of the 3d window to turn off the extended coordinate systems (so the lpws icons are hidden). AFAIK the docs were written before those extra options were added. That's the "new" coordinate system. The "old" system works like so: Left click to move in parent coordinates, Right click to move in local coords.

And maybe we will even see REAL working handles instead of this edit sphere crap in my lifetime. It is such a pile of shit and I'm even sick arguing about it for 6 years now. :banghead:

Just throw it out and replace it with three standard handles for move, rotate and scale and bind them to shortcuts. Look at XSI on how to implement it cleverly!

And sorry, I am not interested in any other views on this. It was crap from day one and all the "improvements" are wasted time.

GET RID OF THIS THING!

OMG...

I coulden't agree more ThomasH!

isobarxx (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=1124) thanks for the help, i'll look into IRC. as far as solving the Axis issue, no luck.
I'm using an Nvidia Quadro FX 4000 Driver 7.7.5.6 and was wondering if there is a setting i need to change. i remember something about Open GL settings needing to be configured.

Your darn good programmer, write one for us and show us how its done. I doubt you want to use the time to make it, but it would be nice addition to have a THLpRO_Transform plugin.

I agree! Very counter-intuitive. Takes you back a step instead of forward (*making sure you're on the right axis you want).

But I think I read Fred mention they're working on this option on another thread.

We'll see. Maybe in the next 6 years or so? LOL. j/k.

The current SDK doesn't allow any form of interactive stuff, screen elements etc. so there is no way an external programmer can do this.

And even if it would be possible, it is pmGs job to finally implement handles that work. Especially for a software that is meant to work in combination with others, it is simply stupid to reinvent the wheel in such a central area. Especially after 6 painful years have shown that almost everybody thinks it is crap.
Just use the mainstream way of doing it.
It works.

There is no need to demonstrate how it should work. Just look at XSI and you're done.
Single, dual and triple axis movement with visual cues on what will happen if you click and drag combined into one handle. Separate handles for move, rotate and scale. Accessible with keyboard shortcuts. Simple fast and reliable.

It just has to be implemented - not to be demonstrated or invented etc.

Just F...ing DO IT.

It is a shame that this topic has to come up again and again.

Arrrgh :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Yes, dump the sphere.....please. What a world of difference such a
small and hardly evolutionary change would effect and while under the
hood maybe implement dynamic parent in place. Oh yeah, that would
be something.
