you see i have some probs with the lips, you have some advise for this undone head??? how can i give the lips a smooth curvy look if i have to deal with square polygons giving the lip shape a square touch at some points!!?? The white shader on the lips is put on the lip selection! So how can i make smooth selections ? or is this the wrong way?

Try the vertex map. This could help you :)

1. Select polygons you want to texture. ( 1.)
2. Set them vertex height. ( 2., 3.)
3. Create the new material and set it like in pictures. (4., 5., 6.)
4. Apply the material on the object. ( 7.)

I hope it`s helpful. Please write back if any questions.http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/231397/231397_1155384202_large.jpg

Dude you need to read the manual and work on the mesh before you start texturing it. As soon as you load a shader in that panel the sliders will appear.

Click the "Shader" button and create the 3 shaders as shown.

just a sidenote i dont think that anywhere in the manual its written to work on the mesh before texturing it and furthermore i did not really textured it i just wanted to make the lips visible by adding a shader so i can better see the result when i push the points around the lips right?

thank you for your shader tip will try it. But how can i read something in the manual on page 430 soft selection... if i have never heard of its usage ??? I read the manual when i need it not everything in one day all 1000 page

What on earth are you talking about? You asked why your layer shader wasn't showing any % slider, the first thing i would have done is reading the layer shader explanation in the manual. After all you're the one who said "i read the manual when i need it", so stick to what you said.
The "finish modeling it before you texture it" sentence was just a suggestion, it had nothing to do with the manual one.
