Nurbed 01-23-2003, 07:39 PM in polygons. i dunno how to even beging modeling an ear! if anyone knows of a tutorial to make one (cartoony or realistic), or has any pointers, please let me know. thanks

There's a lot of this stuff out there, man-- try doing a keyword search of CGtalk to find what answers people have gotten on this before.
The Joan of Arc tutorial (http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/ear1.asp) has pretty good basics for making ears and the rest of the body as well.
Also check out the animated gifs on the Subdiv Modeling Resource page (http://maxrovat.sns.hu/subdiv/gifs.htm), there's an ear about halfway down.

thanks a bunch. i'd been doing a bunch of searches but i kept coming upon the same tutorials that i didn't like much.
i like how your eva's going too. i was started to make one, but gave up pretty soon. i haven't found many good references for it (being straight on front, side shots). human head i'm finding easier to model at the moment..

In my Eva thread is a link to the reference I've been using. Also, if you get one of the better acton figure models, they come with good views on the box you can scan in.
