Spiritron 03-15-2002, 12:28 PM LEARNING A LOT AND HAVING FUN. I BIT OFF MORE THAN I COULD CHEW LAST MONTH, SO THIS MONTH I'LL TRY JUST ONE CHARACTER. I GUESS HE COULD BE A COMBINATION OF SEVERAL GODS; I DIDN'T PICK A SPECIFIC ONE JUST THREW TOGETHER A FEW IDEAS. HE HAS THE POWER OF FLIGHT, DOES ALL HIS SEEING WITH HIS THIRD EYE SO THE OTHER TWO HAVE BECOME USELESS AND HE WEARS THE SUN AS HIS CROWN. MAYBE THE SUN GOD; RULER OF THE SKY? I GUESS HIS MOUTH WILL BE SOME KIND OF VORTEX, NO FINAL DECISION ON THIS, YET. HE WILL PROBABLY HOLD SOMETHING (LIGHTENING BOLT?) IN HIS RIGHT HAD. POSSIBLY HE WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY SOME CLOUD NYMPHS. ANY SUGGESTIONS, COMMENTS?

love the feathers/wings however the back seems to be more of a crease then a hollow of the back, maybe more curved and not as close together, just my opinion, looking really good though, want more, more please!!

Thanks Darklefv,
Yes, the body needs more work. I did this with nurbs; thinking of redoing it with polys. It's probably easier to get more detail with polys. New post soon.

Well, I did get better results with polys, but either way it's really just spending the time to create the details. When I posed my character it didn't deformed very well, so I guess I'll have to redo the arms. The neck is close to what I wanted. the head, however, needs more work. I think the third eye should be further down on lthe forehead, and eventhough the other eyes are supposed to be useless, they are still too small. The nose is too flat. Anyway, here it is. Comments, Suggestions?

well first off, nurbs or polys by them selfs is a really hard way , imo. but I use subsurfaces, what program you using, most programs have subsurfaceing, its a supurb way of making a low poly gon model look like its real, plus with extruding and subdivision you can add details super easy and still not have to many polys, mine is about 16000 polys right now then i turn subsurface on and wala cool model, however I use blender so its real easy to turn it on and off with diffenrt levels of subsurfacing. so i work with level 1 then render at 3 if needed. hope that helps

Darkelfv,Thanks for your comments.
I'm using Truespace 5. Yes the current model uses subdivision which is also easy to turn on and off in my program. I was referring to the modeling method used before turning on subsurfaces. Nurbs in Truespace requires you to duplicate an entire row of points thus complicating any attemtps to create specific details. With polys you can draw only the points you need. Nurbs gives a more organic look as you model, whereas polys require you to switch on subsurface to check your work. Ultimately, skill and experience determines what and how you use your tools. With my amatuer skills, polygon modeling is more effective.
Love the wings and the pose.....the body is a bit blocky....but it give him an unique style!:) .....at last,i like it.
