Please excuse the fellow members of CGTalk. Most of the members here have a "Shy Egotistical Jackass" mind set were they won't reply to threads unless they have 4 to 5 star work. This is looking very good though, keep it up. :)

hah, dont forget they ignore most car threads :)

anyhow, the RS4 looks great, but theres something about the mesh/grill around the front which bugs me a little, but i cant honestly put my finger on it :/ , any plans of putting some big calipers on that baby?

good work so far :) mind posting a wire?

08-12-2006, 05:30 AM
thanks Tyrinid..the grill is just about perfectly(i think lol) accurate, i think its just the lighting if its the clay render you are talking about. heres a ref to look at:

Great Start! Nice detalization. I love your precise forms... :buttrock:

08-13-2006, 08:57 PM
Hey question for you, did you model that in Nurbs? Sub d's?
Cause i'm doing a Nissan 350z and im finding that nurbs helps in some cases but polys is what im working with...

08-14-2006, 04:45 AM
hi justynmagz, its completely poly. sitnikvladimir, thanks man.

08-17-2006, 11:07 AM
bumping up for any new updates? I'm really digging your model and the RS4. If I had the money, I would sooo buy one in a heartbeat.

Check out the vid!

08-17-2006, 11:50 AM
Nice and clean modeling. Go for red color :)

08-18-2006, 05:02 AM

thanks guys

08-18-2006, 06:23 AM
looks very nice so far.You even modelled the grill! keep going.

08-18-2006, 12:58 PM
hi guys..Karl, thanks for the comments, haha i shocked myself with the grill aswell..

now for some info..id just like to talk a little about my updates as i was in a rush this morning when i posted. you may wonder why i posted the wheel again, its just because the treat was not deep enough so i remodeled it. doors and windows are done, just have to tweak the gaps. also trying my hand at the interior(finding it hard as its a first time doing interior for me)...other than that you guys can expect a few more updates, and maybe a test render a bit later:)

08-18-2006, 07:49 PM
hi guys, i have a quick test render. its the first "studio" type of render i have ever done. i am aiming for a stylish 'different' look, much like in the advert(dunno if its the same ad all over the world). please note that this render has been done on low settings. so what do you guys think...

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2046/testrender3hl2.th.jpg (http://img213.imageshack.us/my.php?image=testrender3hl2.jpg)

oh and i will post some more clay render updates tomorrow, only have time for this render now:D

08-19-2006, 04:39 AM
no comments:sad:...oh well..i will be posting updates in a bit for those interested.

sorry dude, I saw your updates earlier today and I meant to comment but I was kinda in a rush. The RS4 looks epic, I really have no crits for you at the moment. Honestly, it looks dead on. Great work, keep up the good job bro!

08-19-2006, 10:38 AM
The render looks very nice.the red should be a little less saturated. I suggest you post future renders as images not thumbnails so ppl can quickly comment.

08-19-2006, 01:17 PM
hi guys..

thanks for your continued support and comments Jerobi and karl, i appreciate it:thumbsup:

i keep forgetting about posting wires, i will try get around to it

08-19-2006, 01:33 PM
Nice work :)

08-19-2006, 02:30 PM
Looks really good for what you've got. Modeling in those subtle details is what usually sets one car model apart from the rest, even if it seems to take foreverrrrr. But yeah, it pays off in the end. Keep at it, and try not to forget any parts that are seen on a regular basis.

08-20-2006, 12:33 PM

maksy: thanks

Everything is great so far... interior is very nice and clean.. no errors
Dont forget window cleaners :)

08-20-2006, 04:09 PM
Nice model, I need some practice rigging cars. If you wouldn't mind.. could I rig that and send it back to you? Of course, the demo reel on my side would have your name for model. PM me if you are interested.

08-20-2006, 05:44 PM
How did you get that creamy clay render? :D

Looking awesome! I LOVE the RS4 and I drool over them everytime I see one. :D And your model is making me drool!

08-20-2006, 06:17 PM

omega3d: thanks for your intrest in my work. i will think about your offer, im not to keen on distributing my work but i am thinking about animating it. so maybe we can both benefit, i might consider it if you did a 'write up' so to speak cause i have no idea on how to rig cars. then i will have a rigged car to look at and a write up explaining whats going on, and you will have it for your reel..just a thought

digitalputty: thanks for your comment man. about the clay renders, i make the environment colour grey, leave the default lights, assign a normal vray material and lighten the colour and render..lol simple yet effective:thumbsup:

thanks agen

hi guys, im back after a hectic week..yay its the weekend:bounce: so that means updates:)

expect a few in a little while

08-26-2006, 05:30 AM
hi guys sorry for the delay, my cap is finished so im battling to get these images uploaded, but after a few atempts it finaly worked. as for my audi, its basically done now, i have done two renders with no post production. i need to smooth a couple more things on 2 interations instead of one, but i have to be carefull cause my computer wants to fight with vray when i do so. i will try post some clays soon:

(thumnails due to large image files, sorry for the inconvenience):

please comment

NICE renders! :D Only crit: I think the paint is too reflective.

I like how you added in the website URL for copyright protection (I assume). :P

08-26-2006, 03:17 PM
thanks digitalputty, i will make it a little less reflective. lol yea copyright, i dont want to breach anything like that, but im going to do a studio render, or build an environment so that wont be in the reflections:)

10-01-2006, 09:38 AM
I have been watching this thread for a time, you made great progress, like your model :)

10-01-2006, 06:32 PM
whoa, thanks man, i thought my thread was dead:thumbsup:...i think i will start updating again, i just kinda got busy and then had no time and so on..but hopefully i can post a few more goodies.

10-01-2006, 11:23 PM

Both the actual real car and your splendid work are just awesome. Keep up the good work!

10-24-2006, 09:09 AM
hi Nick
wow! wow! and wow again! this is looking really really nice - the detail in the grill alone is immense hehe! sorry I cant post up more got heaps on in offis grrrr!

catch up with yer soon mate :)

10-24-2006, 10:34 AM
thanks man:thumbsup:

yea it wld be good to catch up, cheers

10-25-2006, 05:16 PM
the model looks amazing. i was wondering what technique you are using for the reflections and what are your render times

10-25-2006, 07:06 PM
thank you for your comment, i will post a "write up" about my techniques tomorrow, a bit late here now so i wont get anything done;)

10-26-2006, 01:17 PM
hi...heres how i did my shader as promised:
http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/318/shaderqu8.th.jpg (http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shaderqu8.jpg)
render times are about 3-4hours at 2048x1536 hope this helps

10-26-2006, 01:36 PM
Very nice :D

I see you've used a Standard material with Vray. Why is this? Considering what the Vray renderer says, rendering with standard materials can give unpredictable results?

10-26-2006, 01:40 PM
thanks...it can be unpredictable, but in this case it has worked out nicely(atleast i think so)..the key is to try out and test the shader, in my case i was lucky and it worked with vray perfectly:)

10-26-2006, 01:49 PM
Nice shaders man. Looking great and realistic.
I'll keep track on ur updates

10-26-2006, 01:57 PM
Yo hitch24, realy nice work you don there, just one thing i have notice, your rim's aren't correct check this picture you will see wath i mean ! 7 sproke's and 5 hole's...

Keep it up....

10-26-2006, 02:03 PM
hehe well done, i was wondering when someone was going to notice, the truth of the matter is im kinda lazy at the moment:D but i will try and fix them

01-04-2007, 05:09 PM
hi guys, long time no update..sorry but i have not really had the inspiration to continue and have been busy. i have made an environment that is working well(i think)..please tell me what you guys think:
