funny how technology comes around full circle.........first we had floppy discs which eventually became too small.......then came optical media.......cds, dvds........now we are back to a small rectangular casing with a little disk inside....lol

wonder if its magnetic, optical, or electric................

this looks pretty damn cool! Def looks like a nice addition to both a computer and a handheld pc.............cant wait till nvidia starts making handheld 3D cards!!!!!! Imagine Maya or Unreal on your palm!!!! screw gameboy! course once it gets to that point...that little 3" screen just aint gonna cut it.....BUT they do have those one eye glasses that project a virtual screen in front of you! that would be cool.....have a workstation in your pocket and get to work on a virtual 60" screen......................the future looks bright!!!!!

I could break that thing like a... like a Twig!
Small things are sort of good but when it comes to computers, i like to have small things inside of big things, like a thinner laptop, not a 5gig hd that i break because i sat on it. Tho stuff that tiny would be good for the handheld pcs.

i dunno....the way they are saying it works its the same as a credit card.....and i dont know if you have ever had to break a credit card after getting a new one.......IT IS A PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!! If it is like that i dont see it breaking easily.....sure it said it has moving parts....but Mylar is what they make those shiny metal balloons out of.......not too brittle.

I think if this is made right you could hold one in your wallet and have no probs ;) Anyways it is pretty damn easy to break/destroy cd's and noone seems to have a prob with them ;)

I'm sure they will make hard plastic cases like zip discs or cd's to store them in.

and hey for under $15 a disc, who cares if they break after a few months of abuse.......thats a disposable price for that much space in such a small device.

actually yeah, thats a cool idea.....once the tech becomes popular you could hand them out as biz cards and people could slide it into their palm or comp and watch your demo reel.........cool idea ;)

btw, this would be a REALLY nice way to start replacing cd's and DVD's for music and movies.......i wouldnt mind a movie player that you just slid a credit card sized disc into and watch the movie with no chance of it skipping or getting scratched......would make for a nice portable player too.......could put music or vid on it and take it on the go ;)

again the projection big screen glasses could be useful!!!!! :)

I have no doubt they are rather sturdy. An unprotected hd like that had better be. But i still can't help wondering what would happen if you bent it even just a little...

OBTW cds are damn hard to break, not distort, break. I threw one at a wall at least 8 times before it chipped.

Also, the card--like a credit card--is extremely flexible, without risking damage to the data it contains, he says

:bounce: see goon extremely flexable.

I'm pretty sure they will make really cool "card carrying cases" for the cards so clumsy people won't break their cards.

I personally can't wait for this stuff to hit the stores, but I hope the price would drop though. For $15, you can get 10 gigs of storage with CDROM. But, I guess having double the price for half the size, AND rewritable is pretty fair pricing.
