Hey there Deko, Fantastic reel you have there, you clearly have a great grasp of overall composition along with a broad range of skills, if i had to critique i could only say that on the matrix style shootout, the guy who runs into the scene appears to be a little stiff. Apart from that its an awesome reel you have there! - Adam

Amazing reel, congrats!:thumbsup:
Broad range of styles and skills, it was fun to watch!

Pretty cool stuff overall, my favourites would be the fireball (simply kicks a**), earth from space and your logo in the end. Your car looks promising too, but you kinda hide it in the shadows (literally). Things I would consider to cut or improve are the meteor shot (ugly smoke trail, to be honest) and the matrix style scene (not as good as the rest and copied too often already).

Apart from that I enjoyed it very much, good luck!

Thanks,
i saw your reel on evermotion :thumbsup:, nice particle and growing effects ;).
About meteor - i know, but is too close to camera and rendering time is too long...,
but like one person say: for bad meteor, compensation is in explosion at the end ;).
Anyway, thanks...

Hi Deko your reel is just awesome. I really like the starting of the reel when specially the camera pans and moves inside the clouds. Good job man:thumbsup:.

great energetic reel !
i disliked only the matrix-scene (with the shooting) for some reason, i think that shot is the weakest in your reel..
but apart from this, absolutely hats off :)
hope to see more work from you !

While I have to say that a lot of the stuff comes from Peter Draper's book...I think you have taken the tutorials much further than he does in the book. Would I be right in that or do they look that amazing if you just follow the tutorials??? If you have done any work to further them, would you care to share your methods? ;)

I like this reel. I agree with that the Matrix stuff lets it down.

In this showreel is only one project that is inspired by Pete Draper's book - Tunnel Explosion. Cool method to do volumetric thing with just deformable mesh(displace) + material. My technique is very similar, only that mesh is created a little differently(path deform).

Soon my site will have better navigation and i put more tutorials and tricks(also i will post my fireworks making of ;) ). Now you can find some stuff here - http://www.deko.lt/cg_education.html

Again, thanks for your comments :thumbsup:, I wish that employers will have same opinion :scream:

Oh, the stormy sea and the fireworks weren't from Drapers Book? My mistake. Seriously looking forward to your tutorials!

Stormy sea is created with DreamScape plugin(www.afterworks.com (http://www.afterworks.com)) + a lot of composition with DigitalFusion. It was created for FXWars challenge, you can view more here:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=3293279#post3293279

And here you can view Fireworks PFlow screen ;).

hi
very good reel
for matrixscene i think cut off the running action and do longer pan of camera for bullettime fx will be best
i dloaded all your files now but they seem to use a lot of resource?
my p4 is not weak but your files really put it on its knees!
Can you describe your system? renderfarm?
thnx for sharing

I even forget about that projects, they created 1.5 years ago :scream:
Some project is created in my home PC:
P4 2.4@2.6GHz, 512RAM, 64 MB Video Geforce MX

and some in Studio:
2.8 Ghz, 1GB Ram, 256 MB Video ATI

But I can easily work with all scenes in home, except Creature Disintegration, this need more resources.

To optimise Viewport speed, you can lower Particle Quantity Multiplier, use Particle Cashe operator (place them in Pflow Root), also if there is some Turbosmoothed object, just decrease iteration.
Good luck :thumbsup:

i rarely watch movie with my internet computer 's speakers turned on
so i was very surprised when i heard the music,it goes very well with the scenes especially the break
Another thing is your file is just 23 megs and still it's got very high quality pictures
Comparing to mine at 120 megs ( not encoded yet ) still not good as yours
please educate me more
thnx

That's a huge collection of really impressive stuff! I like the clouds in the beginning, reminds me of the clip from Digital Domain's Stealth making-of clip (click here (http://www.digitaldomain.com/links/comm/behindscenes/BHS6/bhs6.htm)). And it's great that you start with a clip like that.

I think you should cut out the Matrix-ish clip with the agents shooting at the guy in the subway, first of all because it's just a rip-off, secondly because the character modelling and animation are eons below the level of the rest of the reel. :)

Good stuff.

Deko, you should say that the model of gnak (that character that in preview is on the upper right corner) comes from www.treddi.com and it's not your own model but property of his inventor D@ve , administrator of that website.

Hi Deko..
There are some great stuff.
I love the dynamic of the ocean and the final compositing done in Fusion.
But in same time I don't like the composition of the airplane with the ocean.
The ocean is more realistic than the airplane, you should refine something to
improve much better this clip.

thumb up:)

Thanks guys

buller ->
For encoding i used sorenson squeeze 4, WMV format :)

jussing ->
Thanks jonas, i always love DD works, my clouds created with maya fluids, if you want more info, PM me ;)

lauranonce ->
As you can see, this isn't modeling showreel and there is a lot scenes with 3rd party models and I don't said that gnak model is created by me too :P, you can view my showreel breakdown in my resume:
PDF:
http://deko.lt/files/DeKo_CV_ENG.pdf
DOC:
http://deko.lt/files/DeKo_CV_ENG.doc

Btw, how many minutes you need to model something like that? I think that can be done in less than half hour :p

5sense ->
My first steps with Digital Fusion, now i love it :bounce:

I'm glad to see that you don't appreciate the other people work...even if it was modeled in 15 minutes or less it's not your own stuff so you should add somewhere the owner's name.
That's all.

That's all.

In a big projects (+20 people team), every person, who create that shot can include it to own showreel and we can watch a lot of different people showreels with same shots...
Important thing is to explain that in ShowReel Breakdown (you can see it in my resume, above links) or you think that every artist must write all teammates names in video at bottom?
My works is in ShowReel Breakdown... Don't hesititate to look there :rolleyes:
