Text of the Aeneid (ln 294) :
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Furor impius intus
Saeva sedens super arma, et centum vinctus aenis
post tergum nodis, fremet horridus ore cruento.
(English)
Inside a cursed rage
sits upon his savage weapons, and bound with a bronze hundred knots behind his back, and horrible frothing at his mouth.

heh. That guy is looking very tough! I like the threatening expression and stance he is taking on. The lower eye area really sticks out to me. It's so hard edged. Other than that, keep it comin!

Thanks lowdown! I agree about the eyelid thing, it was part of the design, but didn't really work in 3d :( Toughness is one thing wait 'till you see the froathing :)
see you,
Farley13
PS now I can remove that angry monkey from my back :D

Sorry to bump some people, but before i start, accesories (aka a pile of weapons, a stool, a gate etc. ) are allowed under just char designation?
thanks,

I am pretty sure you can model whatever you please, but for final entry character and what he is holding will probably be used for "judgement"

Hey farley13, just thought I'd check out what your up to... I like the threatening look. You said something about foaming at the mouth? I take it your heading along the demon side? or is he an enraged god?
One small thing that I noticed is at the top of his ear... From where it begins and arcs up seems a bit fatty. Other than that, sweet model...
-Steve
Very interesting! the model is good, but what hit my attention is more thin.....how i can say.....your character is strangely very expressive at the beginning of modeling........Very interesting...i like it very much......

crap third posting too many pics :annoyed: (smiles I think)
anyways:
lowdown: Thanks for the quick response, I hopefully will be able to include a simple stool too, since he will be sitting down :)
Stephen Vyas: Hey you read that :D Well he is the personification of WAR by Virgil, so the scheming and foaming kinda goes with the job description. fixed the ear too . . .
OZ: Thanks man!! That's probably the best compliment I could get :D:D I think it might have to do the angle and lighting too, but I hope it still comes through the final pose, will add a bit of nonsymetry then a bit of a Walt eyebrow cock.
Some updates from today some from Saturday (me too lazy :o) :

woops forgot to say anything about the sword  , modeled after a roman version with cerberus on top, it had been barberized by the savage nature of WAR on the bottom . . . or at least I think so
see you again,
Farley13
PS sorry back to 12 replies . .eh

wow, cool character. really like his face.
(he has this "i'll kill this bastard in the mirror" look that i'm practicing every morning... hehe :) )
the sword is modelled very nice too, but i think the hilt (not shure about this word) is to smal compared to the blade. i think it's not massiv enough, but that's just me.
marcom
hey !!! THE SWORD IS SPLENDID! I love your sword!:D

Chi- heheh :) Certainly stick together, away from that maelstrom !!  That's the reason I'm here!
marcom - Thanks man ! I'll defitely tweek the size of the handle! Started as a reference image for a roman sword, and added the drawn part without much thought   Thanks a lot !
-OZ- Hey a happy customer!! :bounce::bounce: Thank you I needed that :D
Don't worry I'll get a lot done this weekend,
thanks again,

wow!! it really is an ugly mesh!!:p but oh well...who really cares ya know?! don't let that bother you, and the model is definitely getting there ... maybe the trunk of his body is a little long you think ? or it might just appear that way
:wip:
Farley !!! I can see that U can create good detail on the sword and lower part of the model .. DO THE SAME TO THE REST !!!
Don't be afraid to go deep in to the details ...
Good work ... don't waste it... :)

He hehe :) Don't worry I won't be that lazy - just a little ;)
I'm still trying to go between super detail/photoreal that I'll never finish in time (really busy month did I mention :D) and complete toon. This was supposed to be my first kinda forray into toon-like chars so let that influence your opinions . . .
edaddy -ugly yet Beautiful- it deforms pretty well though :) I think it's got a bit of character- I guess a bit rushed  Your right about the trunk too.
Argail - thanks- I'll defintley add some odd little ornaments on his neck etc. kind of stuff inkeeping with his diety. Also Some nice gnashes are in the works :) and the foaming of course   (not too long though 'till doomsday:() so I want him in a pose this time!
Thanks to both of you!

I think it's good so far, but theres something about the forearms.
Are you gonna texture him?:D
YEZ! great work man!!!!!

04-04-2002, 05:14 AM
Yeh I know there is somthing that's not quite right, not much time left though, and it looks respectible posed, so I'll look back up some good ref. again and see if I can figure it out for the next project. :D
I heard texturing may be the next challenge. We might all start from an identical model too . . . I hope not ;) In any case I'll texturing him on my own time, definitely not this weekend :)
:D:D:D Thanks OZ!
Thanks for the crits !
see you,

Some random kinda animation just blocked in for now- any ideas on generating more personality in the actual motion (as opposed to face morphs) ?
http://home.attbi.com/~farley4/Farley_web_site/Gods_Challenge/Godani1zp.ZIP
the zip helped a bit, but it's kinda large (3.9 mb) and the animation is even larger (10.2 mb) And you'll have to excuse the folder names :)
see you,
