View Full Version : Open GL Corruption on Transparent surfaces?
DMack 08-09-2006, 04:55 PM Hi All,
Just wondering if any of you have had corruption in Open GL with transparent surfaces? If so, any fixes?
Thanks.

I have it. No fix here, just living with it.

Yeah, it's not too bad, just always nice to see a clean interface! I'm getting it on eyes which is a bit of a pain.
Maybe someting that'll be fixed in the next version? That's got to be out soon.....

I'm getting it on eyes which is a bit of a pain.Eyes can be especially troubling with this fault. Perhaps use stand-in eyes which don't have lenses while you animate. Then just don't forget to replace before rendering.

Sounds like a plan....

Sounds like a plan....In fact, I'd load both pairs of eyes, one with lenses and one without.
The pair with lenses, you activate for rendering but deactivate in the viewport.
The pair without lenses, you deactivate for rendering and activate in the viewport.
This way you are fine in the viewport and don't need to worry about object replacement before rendering.

I ran across something last week or so, but It seemed pretty minor and not worth mentioning.
I think it was mentioned a while back too, so I just ingored it.
If you set the display of "transparent" objects to not display (is it called "hidden" I cant remember), and then adjust an object that isnt hidden, messiah somehow forgets that the objects you selected to be hidden are still hidden, and they will show up again in your world views.
I think they might have even showed up again without the open gl transparent look, but dont quote me. It didnt effect my renders any so I just kept working and didnt spend time to reproduce.

Plus, if you do a screen grab of your transparent stuff, and zoom in on the transparent pattern mapping of the open gl object draw, you can pretend your hacking the matrix! (theres like little shapes almost.)

I usually keep the transparency to 0.995.
I dont understand the problem, but somehow Messiah
messes up the transparency above 0.995: That would be
0.999 and of course 1.00.
