Hi, I'm running Maya 7.0 and these are my system's specs:

CPU - AMD 64 4200+ ATHLON X2
Motherboard - ASUS A8N-SLI Premium NF4SLI 939
Memory - 2 Gigs Corsair TWINX2048-3200 184P R
Video Card - PNY Quadro FX 540 PCI-e 128MB
OS - XP PRO w/SP2

My problem is that when I try to do a playblast in order to test the animation in a scene, my monitor shuts off and then I have to restart the computer. This has happened with all kinds of scenes, from a simple sphere moving around, to a scene with a couple of characters and a .wav file for dialogue. I've looked through several forums and have tried lots of things to no avail. I've set Maya to work in Windows 2000 mode, disabled visual themes, set the display to windows classic style, etc.

I guess that the video card is ok since it's on the qualified hardware list for Maya. Everything works great as far as rotating and shading objects on the screen during a Maya session, and I'm able to render out complete frames pretty fast. It's just that I'd like to do quick playblasts to test out timing instead of going through an actual batch render.

When I try to playblast, I set it to be uncompressed, and not to save it to a file. It seems to speed through the first frames really fast and then 'slams' into the problem, shutting the monitor down, and locking up my computer. Could this be a memory issue, a bios issue, or a motherboard issue? My power supply is 450 W.

Thanks so much for any help or suggestions!
Derek
