about your question on the body what i do if my charactors are going to have cloths is just model the cloths as if i were modeling the body. what i mean by this is you dont really need to model the body if its just going to be covered by clothing, unless of course he is a stripper and will be taking his cloths off.

this is a rule that i follow. only model what will be seen in the scnene.

Sorry about that and i don't want to encourage u digging deeper into the modeling adventures. But i think if it's a first attempt in 3D, try first something easier to model.

try some still life instead, it takes shorter modeling time and you will learn the basic modeling concepts. With great results. I've been exploring 3D for 4 years and stil gets nightmares about character modeling.
