vrljc 01-23-2003, 03:28 AM I am a newbie to lscripting. Where is the best place to start off with it? And how much programming/math do I need to know?

you can check out the lscript forum for lightwave
http://www.newtek.com/community/discus/nest.html
theres a lot of cool stuff going on there.
You should download the LScript documentation if you haven't already. Also, there is a mailing list for LScript.
You probably should know C/C++ (the very basics), because LScript is very much like these languages.

sign up at:

there's a lot more activity there.
also, read up on the lscript user guide (not the reference doc). it should be available for download at the newtek downloads section. of course, download the reference docs as well, if you havent already.
personally, i found bob hood's lscript chapter in inside lightwave 3d as very 'inspirational'. it got me _wanting_ to write lscript. inside lightwave [6] focused alot on the new features of lscript 2.0. i havent gotten ilw[7] so i can say if there's an lscript chapter there, or if it's anything worth getting.

k, downloaded the documentation off of newtek's site and i am off! seems easy enough (prolly shooting myself in the foot). Does it seem predictable @ first?
Unfortunately I don;t know any programming languages other than reading and understanding HTML. But I want to learn C++ anyways.....any suggestions on where to start with that? I am pretty proficient in algebra and trig if that helps. And BTW, i am on a Macintosh, so any programs needed for that as well for programming in C++?
Search the 'net for tutorials on C/C++. I'm sure you'll find a ton.
