Greetings,

I'll be creating a *version* of Ganesha. My first thought was to create a Ganesha-Cthulhu hybrid, but the visual concept never congealed in my brain.
Here is the initial head (no smoothing)...

...And here is the subdivided version...

Yes, there are no ears at this point (no mouth either).

I'll probably rough out the body this week end before cleaning things up and adding details.

I think if you had a humanoid body with a big ol tummy and tons of arms all crossed and in flat hand together poses with his legs crossed that would look really cool, just my sugestion

Finally got access to a scanner so I could grab my crappy (and quick) concept sketches. Here they are...

Please ignore the ruled paper (cheap spiral notebooks are best for the muddy dogpark...).

Darkelfv: Sorry, but I'm going for a less Buddha inspired Ganesha. So he's a bit skinnier. Also, he'll be dancing (which is a traditional Ganesha trait).

Here's a small update. Haven't had much time. The modeling is FAR from finished, but the basic proportion is here.

I think I want the body to be dark. Don't know for sure yet. The second image is provided to better display the body.

Yes, a cartoon... Sorta. Just stylized I guess.

Very nice and cool idea! :wip: Good modeling! :wip:

But I think it would be better, if his upper breast (don't know, if this word is correct) would go down further (like in your drawing), to display the muscles correctly, because they don't go into the belly here. He has two breast muscles, on on the top of the other and the one on the top is a little bit small.

bibi5000: Thanks. The model is somehwat different from the drawing. In the sketches, Ganesha has only one set of breasts (yes, even on a male they are called breasts). Currently on the model there are two sets. I am extremely unhappy with the upper torso structure of the model and want to remodel it.
Unfortunately there are no real world examples of four armed humans to determine the true nature of the underlying bone structure. At the moment I'm thinking that the rib cage would be "broken up" into two disctinct cage sections, with the lower set of arms extending at the break. If I were to proceed with a single rib cage, then the lower arms would most likely be attached via a "super rib" (which I imagine would be a melding of two or more regular ribs).

Any thoughts concerning this area I would gladly entertain.

Here's a modified torso. Still need to figure out the underlaying bones. This doesn't quite work for me.

Hmm. I just realized that Ganesha isn't "packing". Fix that tomorrow...

wow! I love that first head you did! Really great! I think the eyes in the new one are too big/noticable. He would look scarier with smaller eyes, IMHO.

Pearson: Thanks, I really like that head also. The original modeled eyes are definately more elephant-like. I may go back to them. However, *scary* is not something I was shooting for. Ganesha is not a scary god. At his "scariest" he is known as, "The Destroyer of Obstacles". More commonly he is known as, "the Remover of Obstacles".
My intitial idea of melding Ganesha with Cthulhu... THAT would have been scary.

There is 4 or 5 I think.

It's really cool to see the different ones evolve.

Thanks Toma!

Unfortunately time to work on this has been severly limited. I just snagged a short gig working on a game. I hope to be able to pound on it this week end.
