View Full Version : program defaults
lacan 08-07-2006, 02:10 AM I think I have messed up my settings somewhere, I get a strange yellow outline on my text during both previewing and rendering, also tryed a old project file and text is messed up, but of course wasnt before my windows reinstall. I was wondering what file/folder stores the after effects 7 preferences/settings, I would like to start with the defauls but not have to reinstall, I can't find anything in the menus inside the program, simple google didnt help me much.
thanks

you can restore default setting by :
press Ctrl + Alt + Shift while starting After Effect.
when asked you want to delete your perferences file, click OK.
i hope it helps ;)

1.
Locate the After Effects preferences folder on your computer:
For Windows XP: .../Documents and Settings/<user name>/Application Data/Adobe/After Effects/7.0.
For Windows 2000: .../Documents and Settings/<user name>/Application Data/Adobe/After Effects/Prefs.
Note
(Windows only) If you do not see the Prefs file, be sure that the Show hidden files and folders option is selected for Hidden files on the View tab of the Folder Options dialog box.
thats what i was looking for...but it didnt fix my problem :-'( still strange yellow outline on my text.
my font, font size, composition size and prefs dont seem to be the problem..

Did you clear the outline color for the text?

Yeah, I was gonna mention this but it just seemed to obvious. $100 says this is the issue.

Hey why don't you post a sample of one of your projects with a text layer with the prevailing problem. If one of us has the same issue then it is your settings within the comp and not the program - also we might be able to provide a solution. If the outline does not appear on our machines then I'd say that you have a problem with your system or program....
Just a thought.
