View Full Version : Bodypaint - How do I?
medula 01-22-2003, 08:26 PM Anyone know how I can paint through an entire surface. The UV's can't be moved, I've already made big progress with the surface, but I need to draw lines that are symmetrical on the opposite side of the model. Any ideas?
Sorry I can't show you the work (it's under NDA), I will when the project is final.

you could do the following, make a new texture, apply it on the model as flat projection on top of your current texture, draw the line in the color channel, then put that line in the alpha channel (draw in color simply to be able to see it being drawn). make sure that the material isn't set to mix with others. should do the trick

Oooops! I didn't provide enough information! I was running low on coffee I guess! :argh:
Ok . . . The model is for a game - it's car (I can tell you what it is - I just can't show you). The texture is UV dependent and I can only end up with 1 image. The UV's are all assigned.
So . . I want a line that goes all the way around the car. But I want to paint that stroke from the side view only so that the stroke is the same all the way around the car. When the stroke is painted it should be as if is not depandent on the UV's. It should also paint on anything in it's path (in the side view) - meaning the paint passes through to the other side.
Does a tool or function for this exist that I'm not seeing? If so, I would imgine it would be something like pass through or x-ray mode for painting.
Also, can anyone reccomend some good mapping tutorials???

mdme_sadie,
Thanks for your solution. It makes perfect sense! But alas, I can't do it that way since I have to have a single color map to hand in for the final.
