View Full Version : Need help lighting a night scene.
Vilandra 08-06-2006, 01:45 AM I have modeled the city in the screen caps below, and now ive got to light this thing and I want to try to get it to be as close as possible like the shots below. I am using CInema 4D, (but im sure the light works the same way in all major 3D applications). I have tried alot of different light set ups, but I have not come anywhere close to getting my scene to look like this one.
Can anyone tell me if they know what might have been used in this shot? Its hard for me to tell. Maybe some GI, ambient occlusion, or maybe just some spot lights?
If anyone has an eye for this kind of thing and can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
If anyone wants to see what mine looks like, just let me know and ill post a shot of mine.

the caps that u have shown are quite good renders lighting in those shots are good but here I would like to fetch your attention toward the fact that lighting alone can't bring u the same effect your material should also behave like those in the caps
secondly try rendering in passes specially reflection passes as it plays n important part in the image
I personally don't like to use GI as it takes long time (may be I am still using an old computer) but try using ambient occlusion pass as well as ambient pass and play in ur compositing software.
If u can model a city like this I am sure u can light it also .waitng to see your final result.
