Good old search didn't pull up anything so. Is there anyway to Rotate around Selection. I'm working on a rather large object and im currently working on some smaller details. When i rotate it rotates around a massive arc. So i have to zoom out, roll around, then zoom in again.

Cheers

Sounds buggy. All rhino does as you probably know is give absolute freedom to rotate from
any point you wish..in effect you can select any pivoting point you want.
The only thing i can think of is that you may have the grid snap settings set to something way off the nearest grid line..check this.
Could be a buggy inserted block- insert point.if you were using a block object..had one of those before.

This is such a retarded and annoying problem to have, but a problem none the less.

The solution is 'ZS'...

It's that simple. ZS stands for Zoom Selected but all you need to type is 'ZS' [not caps sensitive]. When you zoom a selected object it changes your navigational point from its previous location to the centroid point of the volume you currently have selected.

ZS imho is the most stress relieving command in Rhino [that I can think of atm :)]. Have you even noticed when your ussing a funky angle of say 13mm lens and Rhino start to fight back, resissting you to zooming into the model anymore. Well you can either fix that indefinatly by changing from perspective lens to parrallel lens in viewportproperties, or as a temp fix if you need that angle hti ZS.

They best example of ZS' power comes from stitching tiny holes in the mesh without and external pluging or program... it's brilliant :scream:!!

sry... ranting...

This must be an annoying prob. Here's a solution which I'm using quite happily.

Right click "Perspective" label of the viewport, Set Camera > Place Target. Turn on snap and then place the target to any object which you like to focus on. You can place the target using any of the viewports just like any other Rhino commands.

Another way is to Show Camera (from the same menu on the "Perspective" viewport) and you will be able to see where the camera target (pivot for viewport rotation) is. You can then move the camera target freely just like a normal point object.

Have fun with Rhino! :)
