Title: Urban Landscape
Name: Nick Bartz
Country: Australia
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay

Urban landscape is a project i've been working on for a couple of weeks now, and i feel I've probably spent too much time getting it right. I'm still not happy with iit. It's based on a concept sketch I found on a google search, which i couldn't find again so as to give credit to the original artist. This is the first image i've created from a concept sketch, and it tought me a lot about coloring and texturing objects through lighting. There are about 29 lights in this scene. Any critique as to how I could better light this scene would be very much appreciated.

Up close vignettes seem to work better than the image as a whole and I suspect that this has a lot to do with the even wash of light across the scene. You could look at increasing the lighting in some areas and playing it down in others. I would also recommend adding some depth via aerial perspective - a bit of haze as you look down that valley, that kind of thing. A bit of atmosphere could really help with the lighting palette you have.

Looking interesting though, looking forward to updates...are we going to see some updates? I like the colour palette and designwise it is in the right direction.

Nice work! It reminds me of System Shock 2 (my favourite game of all time!) :)
