I'm doing a very wide shot. It is comprised of a vast expanse of foreground that i need to cover with grass that is blowing in the wind. PFX, even by default has been my first choice for simulating this but the number of strokes it takes to achieve this, even on our dual 2.8 Ghz Xeon, machines really take a long time to calculate. At 1080i we have rendertimes of 45 minutes a frame.
My second thought would be to use MayaFur but I was curious if anyone out there thinks that this solution will require more resources and time to achieve the effect with.
I've done tests with Joe Altar fur plugin and don't get anything close to what i'm looking for via rendertimes... so that's out.
If anyone has any pointers, i'd greatly appricaite it!!! thanks!
