Will the Apple Mighty Mouse work well with Maya? You know, with the middle and right clicks and all...

It works, but I found it real annoying. The middle mouse button (ball) is WAY too sensitive. Every time you go to click on it to move around, the camera will zoom in or out a bit, because of the scrolling having that action. It's basically impossible to push it down straight to avoid the zooming.

The mouse works fine with Maya, but I don't prefer it with Maya. I mostly use the Logitech MX series mice.

possibly because you can't press multiple buttons on the mouse at once.

I LOVE the Mighty Mouse with Maya. The statements were true on the zooming though. After you use it a while it becomes natural so this doesn't happen at all but originally it was a little annoying. If worked for extended hours your hand and wrist will get sore with the Mightymouse before a more shapely mouse. I've used the Logitechs, Microsoft, Wacom etc and I truly prefer the Mighty mouse.

If you choose to go with the Mighty Mouse I recommend using the left right and scroll ball buttons as the normal 1, 2 and 3 buttons. Then use the side squeeze buttons to activate Expose on a mac (extreemly helpful in Maya with the multiple windows all the time). Personally, the scoll ball took a couple weeks to get used too, but now I think its far superior too the wheels etc on other mice.

If you don't go with the Mighty Mouse then go with the Logitech as stated, its a really good mouse also.

It's fine with maya, but it takes time to get used to. It is very sensitive and sometimes you press more than one button at the same time. Personally I like to use it sometimes and sometimes I prefer my 5 year old logitech or my wacom. It is just another mouse.

The Mighty mouse is a very cool looking mouse, but it takes some adjustment to use. It's not so great for large hands either.
Ultimately other 3-button mice are better suited for the Maya environment, they are also less expensive ($30 less). I wish it was better, because an all Apple setup would be more aesthetically pleasing. maybe logitech could use some better designers.

I have to use it at school and work (I work at school) all the time, and I hate it.

Maybe it's just me, but I have to always keep my finger tips near the ends for it to be repsonsive, otherwise, I try to right click and it just left clicks (happens all the time, with various mighty mouses).

the scroll wheel is annoying too (far too sensitive) as others have already mentioned.

the single shell design is not practical -- get something with distinct buttons / scroll wheel.

you can also evoke your expose' by hitting F9 (all aplications) or F10 (current application) if you should decide to go with another mouse.
