I'm trying to model some glass for the windows of my car, like in this thread. But how do I this? Do I just close the gap and then give it a special material with a low opacity?

Basically you would model it like anything else. Start with a plane and smooth it later on. The outer shape is defined by the frame, I don't think the window has any holes, sharpedges etc(just kidding). I assume you have references, so have a look at them.

For the material: it would be helpfull to know which software you use.

Thank you for your comment. :)

I'm using 3D Studio Max.

So basically, I start with a plane, connect that to the edges and i'm done?

And for the material?

Yes.

For the material have a look at www.danielbuck.net, he has a few tutorials regarding materials for cars, including glas. Be sure to add a shell modifier to create some thickness and to achieve realist refractions.

Thanks again. I'll try it out tomorrow morning!
