View Full Version : still: Toy Cars - Photoreal??????
bramley1 01-22-2003, 11:58 AM Hi
You may have seen these images on the WIP section.
I was going to try and improve them, but I dont have the time anymore.
So I thought Id put them in the finished gallery now.
I apologise for the low quality animation, I just dont have time to render it.
This was created in XSI 3.01, using the new "Image based lighting" pass, area lights , DOF and final gathering.

Congratulations, it's an excellent work. I wouldn't say these are 3D images if nobody tells me.

Yep almost photo real, great modelling and design in the cars, the enamelled paint, on the white car in particular, is very convincing. The scale of detail on the vehicles and in the paintwork itself is particularly appropriate to the scale and works well.
There is just something about the image that irks me though, I think it might be that the flat lighting is a little drab!?

I think the only prob is that the box is a little blurrier than the cars, other than that its very convincing. Try posting it on some photography board and see what happens:applause:
same comments than deathbard, in fact the pixel aspect of the cars are maybe too high...a little blur make your picture more photorealistic.
I think also the ground need a subtile reflection and or specular...
Anyway it's near to be perfect
Great job

veeerrryyyy realistic indeed... 1 prob I think I can c is the HDRI map u r using, it doesn't look 2 b seamless 2 me, that far right at in the BG... but apart from that I have 2 say the 1st image is the best...

Hi
Thanks for your replies.
I agree, the floor needs a tiny bit of reflection and specular.
Also a nicer bg is needed, at present, its the HDRI image.
I would like to work on it more and render out the animation better, but I dont have time, Im working on a short film at present.
