MAX 5. I have a refelctive material apply to my model, and I add some light to my scene. However the model still appear pretty chrome and shiny even I turn all the light mutiplier to 0. Can some one please help?

I haven't tested this or anything, and I suppose it's kind of a lame workaround, but you could animate the reflective materials output levels? Just turn it towards zero as the light fades out..

That's just off the top of my head, I don't have MAX handy to test anything out, maybe someone else will point out some sort of simple(r) fix.

I forgot to mention, I use the chrome material that come in the material library.
Is there a way beside turning of the level of reflection ? I solve it by turning down the value together with the light multiplier, but I believe there must be a better way of doing it.

Play around with the specular highlights parameters (specular level and specular glosiness, change the specular color (Make it darker will reduce specular effect) Reducing the specular level will probably be the most effective.

If your Reflection slot has a bitmap in it your object will reflect that bitmap regardless of the lighting conditions. That's just the way it works, if it looks wrong you'll have to either find a reflection map better suited to your scene or make Max calculate the reflections properly by using a raytrace or reflect/refract map.
