View Full Version : Can MoGraph do this NOTA effect?

Hi Gang,

Doing something like this (http://goto.glocalnet.net/newstream/misc/car.mov) in N.O.T.A. is a no-brainer.
(Just put all the parts in a null, select them all, add a key-frame to the null, assign NOTA tag etc. and then fiddle with the various settings.) To make a long story short: eezy peezy stuff if you have Renato's NOTA plugin

Ok, so here's the question: Is this type of "springy" -"parts all coming together" type of animation possible to achieve in MoGraph? I've been trying but haven't managed to get it to work yet. I'm probably missing some setting or have my effectors in the wrong order.
Any ideas?

Input appreciated.
Cheers / Alex

yes, this is very easy to do in mograph. just add a random effector (or whatever you want, keyframes and an inheritance effector etc) to get the parts to where you want them to be in the start then animate the effector strengths to 0% at the point where you want the obejct to come together. then just add a delay effector to add springyness (and set it to a spring effect). the delay effector should always come after the effects you want springy delays added to.

But in mograph, how do you assign a random effector to a null oject that contains all the parts ?
Or is it another process ?

Place the null as a child of the Fracture object and then choose Explode Segments in the Fracture object.

Or just put all the bits directly in the fracture object and don't use a null at all (and then no need to use explode segments)..

Ahaaa...!
Got it.
For some odd reason, I always associated the Fracture object with text animations but it obviously has more tricks up its sleeve.. (the joys of learning...)
Thanks a million.

Tnks, for explanation m nearly there but still have to fix that delay problem

I put all the ellements (child) into a fracture objecet (parent) then I put a "random effector".
That works fine when I play with the random ...so I'm nearly there ;)

The question is that "spring delay" I put it as parent of the "random effector" but doesn't change anything really.
Is that the right way ?

Thnks everybody to put me on the way
Cheers

AFAIK you must select the fracture object and then add a delay effector.
So this delay effector becomes the last one in row into your fracture effector tab.
It makes no sens to make the delay effector a child of the random effector.

But it is all new for me to, so don't blame me if I'm wrong...

Peace,
Rich-Art.
