Jeffo 01-22-2003, 08:35 AM This is the latest image i made, trying to reproduce a photograph from world war 2.
The spitfire model was done in 3d studio, and the compositing in photoshop.

Although the fighter appears to be very well constructed I think it is lacking in detail unless its been hidden by the processing you have done to the image. If you are going for the cepier look the tint is definitely off at the moment. Also the processing you have done to the image almost makes it look more like a print than a aged photograph.
Although I've been a bit negative in my comments I do actually like the image and I think the idea has great potential. Well done.

It's a good picture, no denying that. The spitfire model looks great. But I'll have to agree with Frank in some respects. the sepia is a bit off and also the black bits around the edges look a bit off for a photo. Still, it looks great!

thanks for your input guys! i really appreciate it! i think im going to model a photograph and scene and put it into that, maybe that will better help the edges.
if you wanted to see a 360 of the spitfire its click here (http://members.rogers.com/jeffo3d/spitfire.avi)
its about 2 megs.
thanks again!
Very nice! What me bugs a bit is the sun. I´m not sure (as I´m no photographer) but I doubt the sun would look that sharp when the picture is taken directly infront of the sun. Other than that I like it =)

The sun would look like a giant white smear that would take up the whole background, if you had exposed for the planes, which probably wouldn't work anyway. For the sun to show up like that you would need to be stopped way down, so the planes would be just sillouttes. BUT, it could be (and this is how I read the image at first) that this is a foggy day, and you can just bairly see the sun poking through the fog. I really like your photoshop work by the way. That is one trashed photo. I disagree with the other posters though, because a black and white photo from the 40s is not going to be sepia at all. It should be black and white and aged. I think you did a great job from that angle.

I think the image is too aged. It would make more sence if this was a photo from WW1. Good model though.
