NeoNautica 01-22-2003, 07:43 AM Have to keep it under 500 polys... so I have a few polys to spare if anyone has a good suggestions as to where to use them...
no smoothing groups on it at the moment...

Next comes some really cool textureing right?

Its unwrapped and started to texture it now...
There is no plans for using it other than as part of my portfolio (Game Art & Design Major)... would be nice if I could get it flying around in a game engine though... Looks like something that could work in the Half Life engine.

I've gotten 1 (out of 2) of the texture maps a good way done... will try to add some more detail and such after I get the other map to about the same place...
I probably should have overlapped the unwraps for the engines so I only would've had to do one... same goes for the propellers... live and learn...

Hi, looks nice.
Why don't ya use director 8.5 or MX to take a seet behind the steering wheel. You can download the demo version and there are much basic tutorials provided at the macromedia website.
You can fly you're plain in no time and with that you can learn some basic game development concepts.
Another thing is that with the new game engines there is less need for extreme low poly models. They make use of the so called LOD (Level of detail) also availeble in Max. The closer you get to a model the higher the LOD and vice versa. So now we will be able to make models with higher poly counts.
I'm also exploring the new director 3D options. So if u want i can help you a bit aplying some interactivity to you're model. Just send it to me and i will look at it...
yeah????

I've done very little with Director's 3d... I don't really like the scripting language of the program, but I know about the potential...
Handheld game systems are soon going to be able to process real time 3D and will need to have low poly models...
RTS games are still low poly... if a player had 10 of these v22s on screen thats 4260 polys... then add in other units, terrain, etc... it get high fast...
Some game companies give low poly modeling tests (stainless studios for example)...
