View Full Version : Consistent System Freezes [Max 5.1]
erilaz 01-22-2003, 02:57 AM I'm having this major issue in max where it freezes my system frequently, forcing me to reboot.
This occurs with anything from moving a few vertices in edit poly, to drawing a biped. Suddenly, the system will just freeze up. On many occasions, this also seems to corrupt my file, and sometimes even corrupts files that I've recently worked on but aren't open!!
I also notice that occasionaly when moving the mouse around, it will pause and skip.
My system details are:
Max 5.1
Windows 2000
Dual 733 cpu
785M RAM
geforce2mx
Any help would be appreciated!:hmm:

Try going to the software render or Direct3D instead of OpenGL. I had some issues with OpenGl. Since I switched to D3D I haven't had any lockups. You may need a video card upgrade (as do I geoforce 3 ti).
Brian is prolly right, I aswell switched from openGL to direct3d and got rid of those anoying problems. ;)

I also hear if your going to run in OpenGL to change your desktop settings to 16bit. There was a conversation about it.
Also when you say locks up. Complete lock up? No reaction from keyboard or mouse? Need to power the 'puter to fix it.
Or you have mouse activity just nothing responds to the mouse?

Complete lock up groove dog. No mouse, no keys, nothing.
So far the direct3d thing seems to be working... time will tell!
