Hello,

I''ve created a glass looking object in lightwave that is partially transparent. HOWEVER, the transparent values are not sent to the alpha channel. My alpha channel for the object is pure white and not a mix of partially transparent areas. How can i get the alpha channel to match the surface tranparency values. I've been trying to figure out this little problem with lightwave 7.5 for a while now.

thanks

Alpha works fine based on transparency until..you raytrace transparency or refraction. Then, it's all solid in the alpha channel. I guess it errs on the side of safety, by not even giving you the chance to put something behind it that would not appear to refract in the object.
I guess you will need to do a second pass with raytracing off to generate a desirable alpha channel. Bummer.
