View Full Version : C4D boning help
Crime101 01-22-2003, 02:33 AM I am decently new to 3D, actually just started learning this fall. I have been working on a model for the LOTR Classic Challenge on this site and I can't seem to figure out how boning works. The problem I am having so far is that when I bone an arm and then move it, the rest of the body gets distorted. I have tried a few boning tutorials that I found at different sites and they still seem to act like I have boned before. I am not looking for any fancy stuff like IK or anything, I just would like to move the arms and legs of my character without having to highlight points or geometry to move them. If any of you know of any good tutorials on simple boning of the body in C4D or if there is a previous thread that I didn't see on just boning, it would be greatly appriciated. Thx.

hello.
Bones in Cinema default to influencing the entire mesh until weights are assigned to the bones. If you are in version 6 or 7 this means vertex weight maps, vertex selections or polygon selections. (weight maps are recommended as they allow more control.) If you are in 8 you can use the Claude Bonet tool. The use of these tools are in the manual, but if you are using a demo, you can go to Maxon's site and download PDF documentation.
