View Full Version : Raining Rhino's at The Mill
Leonard 01-22-2003, 01:11 AM Hello friends!
A new article from the CGNetworks team. This time, Ali Tezel goes behind the scenes of the spectacular BT 'Burst Pipe' advertisement with The Mill in the UK in this exclusive feature story!

Neato. I downloaded the Mill Show Reels from a link posted on flay.com a couple of weeks ago. VERY inspirational to me. Those reels contained segments of this BT commercial. Wish I could see the whole thing (I'm not in the UK).
Oh well. I ramble. I watch those show reels every so often and feel reenergized and inspired. The stuff of dreams. :bounce: Not bad for advertising, eh?

Hey Zuzzabuzz, on the first page of the article, you can view the Quicktime movie of the whole ad. Spectacular stuff.

I cant help myself so.......
I was the project leader on the BT spots at the Mill. The project took about six months from previs to final delivery. About a month after the project was finished the Mill decided to make me redundant after 10 years of hard work. Whilst the Mill may have a great showreel, they treat the 3d department staff like s*** quite frankly.
Sour grapes? Maybe but lets not forget that the Mill has just made the people responsible for the Oscar in the reception redundant aswell.

I love those ads, whenever im watching tv one of 'em is bound to come up :D
It's sad to hear that such top people had to be laid off, despite the hard work you've put into everything. With such projects as this under your hat I don't think you'll have any problems getting in somewhere else though.
I know Millfilm closed recently, so are you saying there are layoffs at The Mill's broadcast side too? The UK gaming industry has been through heavy times for a while now, I was wondering if the film and broadcast sector was going through the same...
Wiro
yea its sad to hear about that mr farhall... but like wiro says, is the mill having a tough time or is it just share holders up sizing profits and downsizing work force?
great stuff, makes the hairs on my neck stand hehe
