IMPORTANT You should have the XL package and Bodypaint to use this.

I put this GUI together to get to certain tools quickly. Please try it out and let me know what you think. Just drop the interface in your prefs folder and load it up. You won't need to load any other interfaces while using this layout (that's the intention). It has everything in it, while using as little space as possible (see picture).

Also, let me know what's missing OR help me build a better one? :)

I'll tackle getting keyboard keys assigned next.

Thanks M. I use dual monitors so I will have to tweak it a bit but thanks for sharing. I am still amazed how many screen shots I see of WIPs using the default layout. Pretty confining if you ask me. But hey if it works.....

A little too much in the interface for me, I mean great that you got those tolbars, but just too much going on, I'd have a totally seperate view for using bodypaint, another specifically for animating. When I'm modeling no need to have cappucino or the time line or the time slider and vcr controls in the way. Wehen I'm animating I don't really need the modeling plugins that I have added to the interface in there. Keep them clean specifically for what your working on.

Other littl note to get a little more room, you can actually fit the global status bar up on the same line as the FILE/edit/etc. menus. fits perfectly up there on the right side on a 1024x768 or higher

Well, I'm glad most people like it so far. :)

Kai - Sorry buddy, I know this interface is not for everyone. I do like less crap on my screen as well. I did add the "new view window" button just about everywhere for those if us that have 2 monitors.

For BodyPaint I like the set-up so far. I can get any window I want in single click.

Ya, the global status bar sits with another set of icons I couldn't seem to get in a better spot.

Please use this for a bit and give me some feedback! I need to know what I left out! I will be tweaking this as well. :wip:

hello all,

sort of a related question:

I have a 2-monitor setup. Right now I have one window in the 2nd monitor that's divided into several sections, each with their own tabs. It works OK, but what I really want is one window with several "super-tabs" that can have several sub-tabs or divided areas inside them, for example, have one tab with the Objects Mgr, Attributes Mgr, & Materials Mgr, a second tab with the Timeline & F-curves Editor, a 3rd tab with the Picture viewer filling the entire window, that sort of thing. Anyone know if this is do-able? I can't figure out how to dock an entire window containing a bunch of little windows.

thanks,

Gray

Gray,

I wish. If that was the case . . that's what would be posted here! I wanted that kind of functionality in 7. The closest you can get to that is the interface switcher, which painfully has to reload and blank out your screen. Ah well . . .

Not in V7, but in R8 you have group windows abilities which means you can dock palletes and windows in side a group window, and then dock the group window. My animation layout is setup with the main view, and a teb which goes to waht I called animation view which has the timeline fcurves and a really tiny perspective window. So I can animatie full screen, but when I eed to tweak timelines and fcurves, they are rally big and easy to see and I have a small reference that plays super fat since it so small ;)

yeah, I was reading about this but couldn't get it to work for me. Seems like I couldn't get it to dock since there was no little thumbtack icon. Maybe I'll try it again. . ..

thanks,

Gray

it doesn't sock like a manager docks, that would take up too much room, it has two little bars just lke a pallettte, you click and drag hose to dopr it in somewhere

I don't know how you understood that, sounds almost like DR- Seuss,

It doesn't sock like a manager docks???

I need some sleep.

Oh and here's the new fraze for the AM, when making a new am using the new AM button it appears undocked, and usually the first thing you do is use the lcok to lock whatever function your doing, and the place it into the interface, basically you "lock it and dock it"

Okay now, I'm just gonna visit my local looney bin.
