View Full Version : Ed Hunter from Iron Maiden
Ayreon 01-21-2003, 07:18 PM Hi everyone!
This is my latest WIP. It's Ed Hunter from Iron Maiden.
When I was 14 I got the CD Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. I loved that cd, but I loved the cover art even more! So when I got into 3d I always said that one day I would model Ed. So a few days ago I started this project.
Here he is so far. Still need the model the arms. Only the head has a bumpmap apllied, the rest will follow. Let me know what you think about it, and what should be different.

Yeah! Maiden rocked...!
Your eddie is pretty cool to me. I always liked eddie the best in on the album..uhmm..shit.. It has "12 minutes to midnight" on it.. Where he's walking through the cemetary...
I always wanted to model him to, but don't have the skill yet, and then after that I want to do the demon from "Dio", off that album with "The land of milk and honey" on it..Damn I'm old...These albums where out 15 or so years ago!
erghhh.
Love it dood, keep going!

Wouzers._ ._ ._ ._ (the sticks fell off the points, it had looked like this "!")
Nice stretching of the skin man in the face. I liked those images always. I was scared to for those (I was 4)
:applause:
Keep on going
I hope you gonna work on that fire (more red in it)

Wow, that was a long time ago, let's see if I can remember...
Seven deadly sins,
Seven ways to win,
Seven holy paths to Hell,
And your trip begins.
Seven downward slopes,
Seven bloodied hopes,
Seven are your burning fires,
Seven your desires...
Not sure about the 'bloody' part.
The model looks pretty cool, can't wait to see it finished! Maybe the colors were more saturated in the original illustration, but you can always fix that later...

Thanks for the comment guys!
3ddy :I'll work on the fire some more, put a bit more red into it!
Laa-Yosh: the beginning of moon child. ooh sweet memories. Still love that song, after all these years.
The original is more saturated, but I'll probably fix that afterwards in photoshop (like you said)

Well, here's an update! I had a really difficult time modeling the arms and hands. Still a lot of point tweaking to do. After that I'll start with the textures for the body, arms and hands.
I first modeled him in a default position, aded bones and bend the arms. That didn't work to well, so I finally modeled the complete pose by hand :hmm:
Let me know what you think of the model so far! Crits and comments more than welcome!

ps: i screwed up the fire in his head. will fix it later

hmm... i think u should look for the propotions more closely... i dont like the shape of his head... it's a little bit flat...
you should change your lighting to... me thinks... :)
what software do u use?
maybe u could get one of the old Iron Maiden posters with Ed? study it closely and i can bet u will find your own mistakes...
keep us up to date! ;)

Verti: thansk for the comments. I changed the lights a bit in the new render. Don't know if it's better now, let me now oke?
I've started texturing the body. Arms and hands will follow later.
I've only got a bump and color map applied, diffuse and specular will be created afterwards.
Fire away, crits needed :D

much better!!!
keep it up!
what software u use?
i think u got ambient light turned on wich is "burning out" a little bit your image... that's the cause why it's all so "flat"... i think...
am i right? or not?
brave new world!!! :)
