Please help me in finding the best way to export Max's Biped (characters studio's) animation to Maya's Skeletal animation. i just want max's animation on the existing rig in maya.

Thanks

There was definately a tutorial to do this that I read about a year or so ago, I'll dig it up if I can find it. Think it was called somethin like "Character Studio Biped to Maya" (something like that).

Alternatevely you could export the motion from max to BVH and try importing that onto your rig in maya and/or take look at roomie's Pointcache2 reader (http://jonhandhisdog.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=645&st=105&hl=pointcache2) - as it'll import your animation data straight into the model.

use (kaydara, then alias now autodesk) FBX to convert your animation data. first of all, recent versions of max and maya ship with FBX tools which might not be compatible to each other. you might have to download an updated package and install it to make sure both apps use im/exporters from the same generation.

then it's simply a matter of exporting your biped including animation, merging the FBX file with your maya scene, probably scaling the imported skeleton down by a factor of 1000 and constraining your maya rig to the biped animation e.g. with the retargeting features.

or transfer animation from one skeleton to another within maya with whatever method you are normally using.
